John Jakus is who I wanted for UTSA. Gonzaga and Baylor resume with a natty. This is as good a Hire as you can get. Thought he would hold out for p5 offers but can’t argue jakus picking FAU on this here.

This ensures that FAU will remain the top program in the league, with the best facilities, and fans who can troll better than any other fanbase in college sports.

Last post-season he flirted with applying for NBA draft. I would not be surprised if he was thinking about doing that again.

We do need all of the big three back to remain among the conference's top dogs.

Scott Drew & Greg McDermott have the best coaching trees out there right now so I'd feel good about anyone coming off of the Baylor staff. Saw a rumor that Jakus was deciding between Pepperdine & FAU and opted for the Owls because he didn't want to live in California. Thought that was funny.

The only "negative" from the hire was that I had hoped FAU's run and conference transition had elevated it to the point of being able to get a sitting head coach like Donnie Jones from Stetson or something. Doesn't change that this is probably going to be a really good hire in the long run.

I highly doubt FAU would have seriously considered Donnie Jones based on his resume. He didn’t do that great when he was at UCF and I don’t think he had shown enough yet at Stetson to overcome that.
