BU, wouldn't this demonstrate that moderate and conservative whites are voting for the programs and ideas advocated by these people and ignoring their race? Isn't it the goal to be valued for your thoughts and positions, not your color? I fail to see what the problem is here. It seems as though you are complaining that those filthy racists are just voting for those black people because they like them better than the white Democratic candidates.

Rather than add this as an edit, I decided to quote myself.

BU, have you ever been able to vote for a Black man for President? I have. He was on the slate for the Republican primary in 2000. I liked what he said and voted for him.

What black people have been mentioned in the last few years as possible candidates for president and/or VP? I can think of two, Powell and Rice. Both Republicans. What party has appointed black Americans to top positions like SecState and National Security Advisor? Again, Republicans. I think the best you could do under Clinton was SecCommerce. The higher jobs went to a different minority - women. I think as more and more black people open their minds, more and more will become Republican. I hope so. Far too many people, both black and white, are "married" to a party and vote for them without thinking. I know of a white couple, very conservative Christians, homophobic, racist. From the stereotypes you might think they were Republicans, but no, they are lifelong, straight-ticket voting Democrats. He once told me he hoped the Republican won in a certain race, but he couldn't vote for him because then he couldn't vote a straight Democratic ticket as he has done every election since 1932. I think that this would be a better cou7ntry if less people knew how they were going to vote in 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020, and so forth.
