UMass future FB schedule 2025
Although it's pretty early, o-o-c football schedules are arranged a lot longer beforehand than bball. With that in mind, I stopped by good-old fbschedules.com to see what's changed lately.

Noted that all MAC school's future dates with UMass were deleted (there were a lot) since those will be worked out in-conference.

But also noted same with UMass, that only its remaining o-o-c futures were listed. Here's what they have for 2025 now, but obviously four will have to go.

Wonder what some UMass fans are thinking (e-parade, Steve1981)?

Per fbschedules.com/ncaa/umass for 2025:

08/30 - Temple
09/06 - at Boston College
09/27 - Troy
10/18 - at Missouri
11/01 - at Liberty
11/15 - at Iowa
11/22 - at Army
11/29 - at UConn

Probably waaaay too early, but anyway ... just for discussion? Be interesting.

Liberty and Army are gone. Guess push Troy and hate to have just 1 home game. Perhaps push Iowa as already have 2 P4 games.

Push Boston College and perhaps keep Troy is possible.

A really cool schedule would be home-and-homes with Boston College and UConn every year (have them alternate when they visit), a one-and-done P4 game (so maybe keep Iowa) and then pencil in an FCS game (Fordham? Rhode Island New Hampshire? Stony Brook? Albany? There are a ton of options.)

Whether that's enough revenue from P4 games for UMass is the question, I guess.

Iowa is the only money game in 2025.

It would be ideal to have BC and UConn on the schedule every year, yes.

RE: UMass future FB schedule 2025
Posted this on the UMassHoops.com Football board.

Realize the administration will do what the deem best, but someone on the MAC board posted 2025 schedule and what we think.

08/30 - Temple
09/06 - at Boston College
09/27 - Troy
10/18 - at Missouri
11/01 - at Liberty
11/15 - at Iowa
11/22 - at Army
11/29 - at UConn

Liberty and Army are probably gone. Now I'm torn with Boston College. Like playing them but strongly dislike their attitude. We are having a home and home with an SEC team. Boston College is in the ACC, which is a full level down in CFP playoffs. Hope in the next 1 or 2 we have a stadium upgrade proposal pass. Then would like to see a 3 game series, home (ON friggin' campus BC!) , away at BC, and neutral site Gillette. With this attitude, like to push out the BOSTON College game, keep the 2 home OOC games, keep the money game Iowa, and UConn. We still will not have an FCS game thou and hope we can push out the Missouri game. I'm not you guys, but as long as we have Boston College or UConn on the schedule every year, then it is a big bonus to have on an occasion both.

We may need to bump out the Iowa game because of MACtion weekday games and Missouri not wanting to move the game.

We all realize the UMass admin will make decisions, but I thought since UMass is the first conference add in a loooong time, it might be interesting to see how this plays out, and what thoughts are. As I said in the OP, just for discussion ... and we talk about o-o-c schedules all the time around here. IMO it also lets us read some thoughts about who UMass fans think are their most important o-o-c opponents. The East is a new "in-house" region for all of us. No offense intended to anyone.

I just realized that Boston College probably isn't going to do home and homes with UMass given the size of that stadium in Amherst. I would hope you guys could figure something out, whether it's two-for-one deals or using Gilette Stadium as a kind-of neutral site.

Marshall and West Virginia ran into this issue when Marshall joined I-A and the MAC. There was a lot of sentiment for the two schools to play, but the two schools constantly argued where the games should be played.

I believe Cincinnati and Miami are running into this tension now. The last five games in the series have all been in Cincinnati. (Although maybe the one game played in FC Cincinnati's stadium might have officially been a Miami home game? I'm not sure.)

It seems to me that if UMass can get its football program healthy in the MAC the way Temple ddi, it will be able to beat Boston College now and again.

(Look at what Northern Illinois did last season. The Eagles aren't that special.)

If we need to keep 2 OOC home games, then obviously that means Troy and Temple both stay. Preference from me would be to keep both BC and UConn after that, but then we would need to get both Iowa and Missouri to reschedule. My preference would be to have one year with a split of 5-7 for Home and Away, boot Troy to a later year, and then keep Missouri this year while trying to get Iowa pushed out.

I believe Cincinnati and Miami are running into this tension now. The last five games in the series have all been in Cincinnati. (Although maybe the one game played in FC Cincinnati's stadium might have officially been a Miami home game? I'm not sure.)

BC came to Amherst in 2021, so they're definitely willing to come west. Neutral site (at Gillette or Fenway) annually could be fun though.

One annual FCS game against UNH/Maine/Stony Brook/Albany/etc. would be good though, and I believe we've tried to keep those scheduled.

RE: UMass future FB schedule 2025
FYI ... BC played at NIU in 2017. Huskies lost 23-20. I believe it was the flip side of a home-and-home. Doesn't really matter here, I guess, but shows BC does travel. Rather them stick to playing UMass for a regional o-o-c rivalry if it can work out.
