Thoughts on the Big East
With the Big 10 and Big East sharing a footprint across the mid-Atlantic and Midwest, I’m curious what Big 10 fans think about their local Big East team.
Do you quietly root for them so long as it doesn’t hurt the interests of your school?
Do you pretend they don’t exist?
Do you actively dislike them and want to see them perform poorly?
Do you consider yourself equal parts Big Ten and Big East fan?
For me, I wish Xavier the best but don’t actively follow them. My wife and I have a good friend who is an alumna so I’ve kind of adopted them as a tertiary team.
I think it would be pretty awesome if Ohio St, Cincinnati, Xavier, and Dayton would do a mini tournament annually.

RE: Thoughts on the Big East
I celebrated Villanova's two national championships. Luckily Penn State and Villanova don't overlap sports. The only Big East school in Illinois is DePaul and they haven't made the NCAA men's tournament since 2004. I mean Illinois made the FINAL FOUR more recently than DePaul made the NCAAT. The Big East has knocked off the last two Big Ten teams to make the championship game but I celebrated them winning too. I'm for anyone in the East/Midwest East of the Mississippi.

I'll play -
Nope, their success comes at a cost to the B1G brand reputation (e.g. UConn over Purdue). Having Michigan win football and Purdue win men's basketball would have been good for the B1G brand. It's been a LONG time since the B1G has won men's basketball.
I honestly don't think about them much, so I guess I pretend they don't exist.
Definitely don't actively dislike them. That is the SEC for me.
Full on B1G fan here.
The Big East is kinda just "there" for me.

I’d consider Indiana to also be in the same sphere as Butler, Illinois in the same sphere as DePaul, and St John’s to be in the same sphere as Rutgers.

RE: Thoughts on the Big East
Growing up in the area during the 80's and 90's, Georgetown was my 2nd as a fan. A mix of moving out of Maryland and Georgetown's program struggling, they aren't on my mind much these days.
It's a funny situation with those two schools. Could and should of been a storied rivalry.
Like I've said most my life, I just want the two to put the nonsense aside and play each other consistently.

The Big Ten is mostly public universities and the Big East is mostly private universities.
Maybe we trade Northwestern for UConn?
