Hmmmm

So, Tennessee will inherit the California Transplants that had settled in Texas.

For the life of me i cannot understand why these California companies could not have found a blue state that actually had their”shared values”.

well that's not what he said. He said he wants the HQ to be closer to the center of the healthcare industry. Oracle has made some acquisitions in the electronic records space.

Been happening for awhile here, Oracle is just the latest. City government is giving nice tax incentives to these companies. Amazon is building 20 and 25 story side by side towers for their operations center.

Apparently, the way Texas can get rid of all the Californians moving there, is to just let them live there for a few years. For oracle to be moving on after only four years in Austin is pretty unusual for a large corporate move.

Something not mentioned in the article was Oracle Health was already building a 1.35 billion dollar campus in Nashville to be closer to HCA

More about the Texadus

https://www.mysanantonio.com/business/ar...541636.php

Here’s some reasons companies are leaving.

https://trendydigests.com/2023/12/27/aus...-the-city/

“One of the reasons for this exodus is the dissatisfaction of some tech workers with the city’s culture and environment. A former Google employee who moved to Austin in 2020 said, “It’s a place where people go to retire or chill. There’s no hustle or drive there. It’s not a place for people who want to make an impact or change the world.”

This sentiment reflects a growing disillusionment among some tech workers who initially saw Austin as a more affordable and relaxed place to live and work, but later realized that it lacked the innovation and diversity of other tech hubs.”

People I’ve talked to feel Austin, and other large Texas cities have a bit of a hollow feel to them. Kind of a Potemkin Village culture. It has the look, but beneath the surface is actually pretty hollow.

They might be for some people, but people from real big cities are going to be left feeling unfulfilled.

RE: Oracle joins Austin tech exodus
"...Another reason for the departure of some tech companies and workers is the troubled national industry landscape marked by waves of layoffs and cost-cutting in recent years at many companies. Tech giants with large Austin presences including Google, Meta, Austin-based Tesla, and Round Rock-based Dell Technologies have all laid off employees since late last year, affecting the morale and stability of the local tech workforce. These challenges and a rocky 2023 have also impacted the city’s ability to attract new tech talent and companies.

Despite these setbacks, industry experts argue that Austin’s tech sector remains strong and has a promising future. Ed Latson, CEO of Opportunity Austin, a Central Texas economic development organization, said while 2023 saw a bit of a retraction from the record growth Austin saw in 2021 and 2022, the region’s tech industry remains strong. “Without a doubt, Austin still is regarded as a top-tier tech hub, and we’ve raised our profile over the last several years. I expect that to continue,” Latson said.

“Nationally, and internationally, our horizons keep growing, and our renown is trending upwards.”This optimism is backed by the anticipation of growth in certain sectors, such as manufacturing, which is expected to benefit from major projects such as Samsung’s huge semiconductor plant in Taylor, near Austin...."

Nashville has some healthcare and insurance companies. Of course, they could have just moved to Houston or Dallas. Houston has a massive health care sector. Dallas has the insurance companies.

A little bit more than some, Nashville is the health services capital of the US.

Quote:One company (HCA) in Nashville has 35 million patient encounters annually, more than any health system in America. Another (HealthStream) virtually educates a quarter of a million unique healthcare professionals—every 24-hours! Yet another (Change Healthcare), one of the largest healthcare IT companies in the country, every year touches 1 in 3 patient records.

This article is three years old, it's only grown since then

BS, Nashville is as bad as any coastal city. They just have enough money there to hide their eyesores better.
