I thought there was some kind of rule against transfering in your own conference. Way to go, Dave! - Liquid Karma - 09-05-2002 02:08 PM Good point. - rickheel - 09-05-2002 02:16 PM He still has to pass all the admission tests. Dont they test for illegal substances in your blood? If ya got a rep and all. - Liquid Karma - 09-05-2002 02:18 PM The SEC does not have a rule against intra-conference transfers. Remember when Tubby went from Gawjaw to Keeeeeeentucky? - JD Heel - 09-05-2002 02:20 PM Maybe this is only for football -- or maybe I'm just majorly crossing some wires here -- but I thought it was that you have to sit out one year if it's to a different conference and two years if it's a transfer within a conference. Then again, I think you can walk on and play immediately. -JD - Big Pimpin Deac - 09-05-2002 02:22 PM That's exactly what I was thinking, JD. - JD Heel - 09-05-2002 02:23 PM I also thought I'd heard that the extra year can be waived if the first school agrees to it, though -- for transfers within a conference, I mean. -JD [ September 05, 2002, 03:24 PM: Message edited by: JD Heel ] - Liquid Karma - 09-05-2002 02:27 PM Actually, since UK booted him off the team I don't think this even qualifies as a typical transfer. UK forfeited their ownership of Parker as soon as they kicked him off the team and yanked his scholly. - Big Pimpin Deac - 09-05-2002 02:33 PM Good point. I think that means he should be allowed to play right away. I know it won't happen, but that should be a rule because once again, it is not a typical transfer. - Liquid Karma - 09-05-2002 02:36 PM You still have to sit out 1 year for changing schools, whether or not it is a transfer. - Big Pimpin Deac - 09-05-2002 02:49 PM I know that is the rule. I just don't think that it should be. If a guy leaves on his own accord, I can see the logic in him sitting out. That way, people can't just transfer all over the place. But, if he's kicked out, I think he should be allowed to play right away. - JD Heel - 09-05-2002 03:20 PM Then you'll have guys who get tired of one place and start acting up and breaking team rules just so they can get kicked off the team and go elsewhere. -JD |
