Memphis graduate next President of the United States - Soaring Eagle - 05-30-2007 11:57 PM

I knew Memphis was good for something.

Fred Dalton Thompson is set to announce his run for the presidency.

Crud, this has just ruined the only decent Republican candidate left.

He's got my vote.

Time for the political smack?

Average actor at best.......even worse as a politician! We saw the debacle the last time we had an actor as President. You would think that we,as a country, learned our lesson.

The last actor we had as a President was probably one of the top three Presidents in our history. Thompson has more smarts than all the Democrat candidates together. After electing one Clinton, you would think this country learned its lesson.

I will give him a serious look... but will keep my powder dry for now...

I like this guy. I enjoyed his immediate retort to Michael Moore's comments. I'm looking forward to hearing his platform.

What I like about him was that he said he would only stay in the Senate for two terms (or something like that), and that's precisely what he did. There are a lot of idiots in the Senate that need to follow suit.

I will definitely give Thomson a hard look, too. None of the Republican front-runners blow me away. A couple of the "lower-profile" candidates are impressive (Tancredo for one), but I don't think they can win.

It just shows how sad American poltics is right now. On the Republican side, we are all hoping that Thompson steps in because the field is just average at best. The Democratic side, you have a socialist in Clinton, a fraud in Edwards and Obama, the only really electable person on the left, the problem is, he is just too left.

The cream definately does not rise to the top of American politics.

1.33 terms. He finished off Al Gore's Senate term and then was elected to a full term.

After initially saying he wasn't going to run again, he reconsidered after 9/11. But then decided in the end not to seek another term.

Terrific actor, one of very few left with his class. Terrific politician, great views, very responsive to his constituents. Stayed as long as he said he would, kept his word and left. Could it be that we, as a country, have learned our lesson?

What's Fred's health like? I heard it was bad recently.

Ummmm?!

I was referring to that jellybean eating buffoon that we had in the 80's.

You mean the guy who's economic policy provided the abundance that Clinton enjoyed (and wrongly took credit for). If Fred Thompson will be like Reagan, sign me up.

If you think that about Ronald Reagan, then you are dumb beyond description. Hands down. Even democrats today give Reagan great credit for what he accomplished. You probably think that Jimmy Carter was a great President.

Ronnie sucked. He ran one of the most corrupt administrations ever. Some B-rate actor playing the role of president was a huge mistake the first time and should not be repeated.

Fred has got my vote!!

I really like his comments on border security and liked him in "Hunt for Red October" and "Days of Thunder".

Wow, the level of stupidity on this board amazes me at times. History has already given Reagan high marks on many issues. He came in and cleaned up Jimmy Carter's disaster of a Presidency and he ignited the economy that Clinton enjoyed the success of. Honestly, how can a human being be as dumb as you are? Amazing.
