OT: Best Comment by a Delegate to Either Convention - West Is the Best - 09-04-2008 07:24 AM

"You can tell she knows how to field-dress a moose," said Brian McAuliffe of San Marcos. "She left no meat on Obama's political bones."

That is greatness.

The little Alaskan gov kicked some serious ass last nite. Obama is still cleaning his shorts and Michelle's bitchy frown is now permantly set.

John McCain is the bridge to some really outstanding young Republican leadership. Win or lose, and they will probably win, Palin will be a major force in American politics.

I have a feeling that McCain is trying to pull a fast one. I still want to find out what her views are on foreign and domestic policy. It looks like they are going to keep her from doing interviews. I've heard so many times that "this is the new Reagan", and "he/she is the real deal". I heard it with Bush Jr, Fred Thompson, Bobby Jindal, and now her. I'm not falling for this again. 05-nono

I'm yet to hear anything from either party dealing with true political matters. All you get these days is "they want this" "they do that". Honestly, what has congress done in the past 10 years, but get each other elected again?

What scares me is that small gut feeling that the system is failling and we are doing nothing.

Politics sure does seem to be a lot about personality these days. I don't like that, but I do like Sarah's personality.

If you listen closely there are some major policy differences. The Republican energy plan includes Nuclear energy and more local drilling on top of research into new fuels, whereas the Democrats don't have those two immediately-operable (albeit with environmental risks) options. The Democrats will create a government-based health insurance system, while the Republicans are sticking with the private sector (although I believe Palin when she says she will be an advocate for special-needs, which probably means government intervention of some sort. Motherhood trumps political party). McCain has a different approach to foreign policy than Obama, but expect some big news in Iraq over the next two months that will make their approaches to the war seem moot (or perhaps force one particular side to "flip-flop").

On Palin though, I REALLY like her. She could have been more understanding of what "community leaders" do and perhaps not politicized the "bridge to nowhere" because we all know she didn't do anything as governor to stop it, but right now she is doing what a VP is supposed to do: be a bullet sponge for attack and dish it out on her own (but she has the added benefit of carrying human shields IE family with her into the fight).

there is no real politics. no one talks about the issues. It is all he/she sucks and then the same back at the other side. Someone talking about the issues would be refreshing. I am very conservative and will vote that way but neither party has much new and exciting going on. Once they get to wash. all are corrupted by the $$$$$$$$$$.

Amen, Sarah Palin is breath of fresh air and presents another

sobering new impediment for the Democratic socialist left.

Isn't Obama cozy-coo with a man that actually advocated the over throw of the U.S.? I think his name is William Ayres? How come no one brings this out. You know the old saying, they judge you by the company you keep. I'm not too hyped about the company Obama has kept in his formative years, it says a lot about his thinking.

Maybe you guys should get off the boards and educate yourself on the issues before you make anymore uneducated statements.
