Nippert Stadium Steps Challenge - BearcatDave - 05-19-2011 12:03 PM

Will You Accept The Challenge?

Don’t miss out on the first-ever Nippert Stadium Steps Challenge!

In support of the student-led Proudly Pennies campaign, the University of Cincinnati’s Student Development Council is challenging UC students, alumni and friends to climb all 1,482 steps in

the lower bowl of UC’s Nippert Stadium this Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

With a $20 registration fee, you will receive an event t-shirt, food and drink. Lucy the live “Bearcat” from the Cincinnati Zoo will be in attendance, and the UC Bearcat mascot will also stop by to pose for pictures and cheer everyone on to the finish line!

Bring a friend and get a head-start on your summer workout regiment!

Pre-register online at http://www.regonline.com/stadiumstepschallenge to reserve the proper t-shirt size. Walk-up registrations on the day of the event will also be accepted.

Among other student life and program enhancements made possible by Proudly Pennies, the campaign aims to build upon the charitable opportunities available to students.

Event proceeds specifically support Zoo-Mates, an innovative partnership among the UC Center for Community Engagement, Project Connect, and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Through this mentorship program, 30 UC students are matched with Cincinnati Public Schools children who are experiencing homelessness.

Support to Zoo-mates through the Stadium Steps Challenge is made possible through UC's student-led Proudly Pennies campaign, which has a goal to raise one billion pennies--$10 million--to support the university’s Proudly Cincinnati campaign and help enhance UC student life and philanthropic opportunities like Zoo-Mates.

See you on the Nippert Stadium Steps!

I used to run those steps as a workout when I was a student.

Think I ran them with campus security once as a student.

I think I watched the girls sunbathing on those steps several times as a student.

My older Brother called it the Green Beach when he went.

Oh, away of course. Don't have to be faster than campus security, just faster than one of your friends who you trust. He's a pediatrician in TN now.

Nippert Beach was the best. We'd bring boom boxes, frisbees, footballs, and hidden adult beverages. Campus security left us alone (18 was the legal drinking age) as we partied all summer with those bikini-clad coeds. It was the best part of having a co-op section of summer school.

That astroturf would get smokin' hot after a few hours in the sun. Only the brave or drunk would give it a try with bare feet. 02-13-banana
