Not sure if that Louisville pitcher is that good or if the Bearcats aren't swinging the bat that well. They do seem to be chasing some bad pitches.

Update: 2 - 0 Cardinals Top 4

UC's season is over after losing to Louisville 5-3. UC had the bases loaded with one out in the top of the 9th but Chris Peters hit into a double play to end the game.

Man, that was a really tough call on the second strike (was a ball too low) and then had to swing at the same pitch that would have been strike 3 if the ump missed the call again and end up hitting into a double play. Tough way to end the season...

Did UC really go an entire season without developing a pitcher out of the bullpen? In the 2 games in the tourney I don't think UC used a pitcher who pitched out of the pen until after the grand slam in game 1. I think other than that the only pitches who saw the hill in the tourney were the starting pitchers.

Developing players in on the coaching staff. Going an entire season without developing a relief pitching staff is inexcusable. Oh well maybe BC can go out and find a few JC relief pitchers for next season.

He only has one more roster spot to fill for next year. He has 6 HS players committed right now.

Technically Isler was a relief pitcher most of the year.

Sub, what's your analysis of the recruits coming in? Do you think there will be an upgrade of talent or will it be status quo?

As long as UC athletics have money issues, the a.d. will be content to let UC baseball stay mediocre with an occasional good season. I guess this can be considered a good season even though UC was quickly eliminated from the league tournament.

A blog post by Bill Koch says UC has not made the NCAA tournament in 37 years. But Cleary has done a good enough job and his players don't cause any trouble so there has been no need to attempt make baseball a priority. And to be fair Cleary operates on a shoestring budget so it's not all on him.

Yet another example of a UC sport hampered by money issues. It's a shame because UC has perhaps the best stadium in the league (which now never reaches anywhere near attendance capacity) and in a city with a lot of baseball talent.

As Rath stated earlier on... much of this compares to Rick Minter.
