Ohio State [split] Class of 2012 - Marcus - 05-26-2011 02:54 PM

Not to take this OT , but can you guys believe all the $hit coming out now about OSU? Unbelievable. I dont see how they aren't going to be absolutely hammered over all of this. It seems like this has been going on for years and years. Of course we all know the media in this state is so pro-OSU they can't see straight and thus has probably turned a blind eye to it all this time.

I agree, I hope that the NCAA sanctions them like they did USC I'd love it if they weren't allowed to participate in bowls for 2 years.

I think the paper trail for most of this OSU mess ends up on Tressel's doorstep and he ends up being forced to resign. I would bet the NCAA protects one of its cash cows in O$U.

I don't disagree but they didn't do that with USC and they make a lot of money or the NCAA.

I don't want to get OT on this thread, but I think(hope) Emmert is feeling a little heat from the media, gov't., etc... over the large number of scandals in college football during the past year, and he's got to make a statement by sticking it to someone. Let's just hope it's tO$U.

I'm just preparing myself to be disappointed when O$U gets slapped on the wrist.

Haha I am right there with you.

I dont see anyway that happens. There is just too much going on up there for them to turn a blind eye. Of course it wouldn't shock me if the NCAA were to set a 'new standard' where they all of a sudden say something like "since this goes on everywhere now" it is acceptable behavior. That would just be Ohio $tate's luck to set a new precedent through their cheating to where they get off easy.

Yep. I think the potential blowback on the NCAA if they let tO$U off the hook is too great a risk if they don't stick it to them. In the end the NCAA is all about protecting itself.

In the end, the NCAA is all about protecting its revenue stream.

That's right. That said, why do they ever penalize anyone? They should at least be consistent.

The NCAA looks the other way on 99.9% of all infractions. Occasionlly, they slap a school just so they can keep up the pretense of college sports being an amateur endeavor. Otherwise, they would actually have to pay the employees (i.e., the players) that make all of the money for them and that would cause a SERIOUS dent in the revenue stream.
