In 1962 UC had Ed Brinkman, Bill Faul, Mike Hershberger, Sandy Koufax and Carl Bouldin all playing in the bigs at the same time.

Dueing the 60's UC had 3 players play in the majors at the same time:
Carl Bouldin, Ed Brinkman, and Mike Hershberger. There was a 4th player that appeared in the major leagues from UC in 1965 but one of the other 3 was done with his major league carear by then so 3 is the most UC players in the majors at one time.
Osterbrock is also in the minor leagues at this time. It is possible that UC could end up with 4 in the mojors at the same time soon.
If Osterbrock makes it UC will have 3 major league players from the same team. That team didn't play in the NCAA tournament. That is crazy!

Osterbrock suffered a set back. He is on the DL right now. Out for at least 3 or 4 months. He is unlikely to get a call up anytime soon.

Good call. I missed Faul and Koufax :banghead:1962, 1963 and 1964 all five of those guys would be in the Majors. I did do it without the Internet though.

Too bad. He was a lights out Friday starter. Every series UC pretty much only had to win 1 of the Satruday/Sunday games as Osterbrock pretty much took care of Friday every week.

It isn't serious and he will be fine, expects to play winter ball this year. It just sets him back a little bit.

BTW, Koufax did NOT come to UC as a scholarship baseball player. He was a scholarship basketball player for the Bearcats who later joined the baseball team.

He is starting tonight, so all 3 Bearcats in the majors are starting tonight.
