CUSA's position is shaky at best. Read about it in the Orlando Sentinel http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/coll...=tf-main-sports] "Bowl deals for 2006-09 seasons are nearly complete, but there are still some mini-dramas playing out. Conference USA still hasn't sewn up the Liberty Bowl as a place to send a top team, and the bowl is still courting the SEC. It already has agreed to host a Big East team in its next game "

So much for CUSA replacing the BE in the BCS! 04-cheers

CUSA fans were dead wrong on that one.

- TexanMark - 07-31-2005 10:15 PM

They have been dead wrong on just about everything concerning the Big East.

- MichiganTiger - 07-31-2005 10:18 PM

C-USA's Brittain Banowsky and Memphis AD RC Johnson make their presentation to LB officials on Tuesday. Nothing has been decided post 2005. C-USA is still contracted to play in this year's Liberty Bowl although no opponent has been set.

- Wilkie01 - 07-31-2005 10:24 PM

I hope Memphis is asked to join the BE before CUSA crashes and burns! 04-cheers

- CyberBull - 07-31-2005 11:40 PM

C-USA has fans?

I could make a crack about USF's attendance right now, but its just too easy.

BIG acquisition for a Big East conference that a lot of people left for dead. Very impressive! Mike Tranghese has worked his @SS off to get us some quality bowls, I'm excited! 04-cheers Now that a BCS conference like the Big East is in the Liberty Bowl I expect the SEC to go all out for that slot, at least as all out as they are willing to go to send their 7th place team to the bowl.

The funny part of it is Shockanawe is a C-USA fan and this comes from a C-USA city. The only articles are old ones in which it is stated that it would be a C-USA/ACC matchup in the Liberty Bowl.

OG Eagle your problem is not with us but with the SEC, they don't want to play C-USA schools. We will either be playing the SEC 6 or 7 or the C-USA Number 1 in the Liberty Bowl.

- mlb - 08-01-2005 08:24 AM

Shocknawe is a UC fan, not a C-USA fan. He generally only posts to rip on C-USA (at least from what I have noticed).

But I am right about this, it comes from a C-USA city with the Orlando Sentinal. Like I said we will be playing in the Liberty Bowl, now for C-USA that remains to be seen.

The link is at the top of the board and it is also on the C-USA board.

BTW OG here it is for you.

Still bowling

Bowl deals for 2006-09 seasons are nearly complete, but there are still some mini-dramas playing out. Locally, Florida Citrus Sports is still haggling with both the ACC (Champs Sports) and the SEC (Capital One) about contractual language regarding championship game losers. Both leagues are trying to protect free-falls by the losers, while FCSports is trying to protect its ticket-sales interest.

Conference USA still hasn't sewn up the Liberty Bowl as a place to send a top team, and the bowl is still courting the SEC. It already has agreed to host a Big East team in its next game. C-USA will keep its slot in the Hawaii Bowl, however.

Aloha everyone...I have been in Hawaii for the past week it was soo great to get away from all this talk and have a good time in Honolulu for a while...but back down to business has there been any new bowl agreements signed or is it all still speculation?

As I promised not to say anything derogatory about USF on this board again - I won't.
