Don't count on it--the politics in NY are horrible. I get the NYC local TV feeds on my DishTV and it makes me vomit to watch all these special interest groups fight this thing on the local news.

There was one councilman saying we don't need a Domed FB stadium--Football in December is the way it was mean to be played, indoors is for sissies. The guy looked like he was 5'8" and 145 lbs.

TexMark: living in NYC I can tell you we need other things before a new stadium. The subway system is in horrible condition, the bridges and tunnels need lots of maintenace. We are aiming for the Olympics (don't think we have much chance) and talk of spending nealry 2 billion for a stadium when the infrastructure of this town is literally falling apart.

Example: Wednesday the entire subway system on the East Side went down due to signal failure for just about the entire day. Reason, water and trash in the tunnels. The stations are filthy etc.. but you get the message.

I'm a big time sports fan and would like to have the best in the city, but I can't see how we can justify spending money on that when the argument is we don't have it for the basics. The fares have been raised, will be raised again, but how much can you ask from the people that must ride the system?

Granted, having a stadium and hosting the Super Bowl would bring in money, but not enough needed to address our many problems. (haven't even talked about need for additional firemen and policement which the city says they cannot afford etc.)

...is the proposed Jets Stadium going to have a roof? The NFL does have a rule stating a minimum typical temperature in January to have the Super Bowl at an outdoor venue...which is why the only outdoor hosts are southern cities.

This may come as a shock to you but building the stadium is a must if New York is to land the Olympics. Plus we need a major bowl game in NYC for the Big East to host.
