C-USA Basketball Scheduling for 2013-2014 - BeliefBlazer - 01-21-2013 04:05 PM

Quote:(ODU's) Selig said that the current plan is to play a 16-game conference basketball schedule — 15 different opponents and one team twice. Presently, he said it appears that ODU will face Marshall home-and-home next season.

Quote:When ECU and Tulane leave after next season, Conference USA will be a 14-team league, barring further defections. Selig said that the league could operate with 12 teams, in the event more schools depart.

I'll make a completely uneducated guess that ECU/Charlotte, FAU/FIU, and MTSU/UAB will also play each other twice.

Sounds great. I'm excited for Marshall to be ODU's 1-1 in this set-up.

I would be very happy with a 1-1 with ODU. I really see ODU/Marshall becoming something very special over the years...In all sports.

If I were C-USA office, I'd put Tulane-ECU twice; they're leaving, let them play each other. Work on building interest with the current inventory.

I like it. I'd be fine with USM playing UAB or LTech.

This is what the A10 did with Charlotte and Temple this year.

I think it's interesting that we will all play each other. It might only be for a year but I figured there would be more regional match-ups.

Next year at 14 we might have one permanent team that we always play twice, and two other teams that rotate. The ODU AD has been a huge advocate of staying at only 16 conference games regardless of how many teams are in CUSA.

16 conference games isn't very much and you'd have to find a little of OOC games

I'm all for ODU/Char pairing up. We've had a few good contests (doesn't remember that one blowout).

I really hope they do this. I would love to play ODU, UAB, or MTSU twice.
