A Little Wishful Thinking - Cnelson203 - 04-03-2013 04:30 PM

Is it wishful thinking, or do I really get the sense that -- at least in the G5 -- we are all just about set through at least 2015, and that this crazy roller coaster has come to the end (or will when the SBC adds one more to their list?)

Can we all also agree, for once and for at least a couple of years, that:

1. The MWC is a very stable conference with their new additions, and BSU and SDSU back in the fold, and that further expansion is unlikely?

2. That the MAC is stable and chooses to stay with unbalanced divisions. They don't seem in any hurry to do anything different, god bless 'em, as we say here in the south.

3. The CTBA, while not as strong as they were in years past, is solid with the 12 they have slated through 2015. They have every right to be proud of what they have put together, now let's all give them a chance to solidify.

4. CUSA is not as strong as they once were, but still have a divisionally friendly, competitive conference that has every potential of building into a stronger conference than what many people suspect?

5. That the SBC will likely be just as solid as they have been and continue to build their brand as a growing conference beginning to make a larger impact?

I realize that for the G5, the ACC is the wild card. If they get raided, we'll be off to the races again, but here's hoping Maryland gets stuck with the $50 million bill, slowing things down a bit. I, for one, am tired of all of this.

I, for one, refuse to try and knock down any of our G5 conferences. As long as we aren't playing each other, I really wish we would all do what we can to build up all five! It's good for mid-major sports!

In short, I wish we would stop the conference bashing based on all of the moves. It simply isn't productive. We are who we are, and the best way to build perceptions is through on field performance
