Penn State at Rutgers Sept. 13, 2014 kicks off the new 14-team schedule for 2014.

Ohio State hosts Rutgers, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan and travels to Maryland, PSU, MSU, and Minnesota.

Wow. No OSU-Wisconsin game.

Maryland:

@ Indiana
Ohio State
Iowa
@ Wisconsin
@ Penn State
Mich State
@ Mich
Rutgers

I noticed we end with Rutgers. Hello, institutionalized rivalry.

Illinois doesn't play any of the eastern newbies in 2014

Wisconsin will cakewalk to that West title. No OSU, Michigan, MSU, or PSU. Nebraska also has an easy route, but at least they play MSU.

Glad they kept the Illibuck and Little Brown Jug year 1. I don't care for the fact they have a conference game week 3 though. There's been talk of earlier conference games, but I'd rather have all the non-conference games before conference play starts (outside an existing rivalry like Penn State/Pitt if they want to play later).

Think the season ending games make a lot of sense. Michigan State vs. Penn State makes some sense as does Maryland vs. Rutgers. Michigan State would have made no sense against either the other two, so this is the best combination for the moment in the east. In the west, I'd have switched it up so we get Iowa vs. Minnesota and Wisconsin vs. Nebraska. Both Iowa and Wisconsin have season ending history vs. Minnesota so that's a wash, but I think Wisconsin/Nebraska has turned into more of a rivalry in the first two years of Nebraska conference play than Iowa/Nebraska.

WAY early prediction...2-6 in conference. Maybe we steal a third game.

Iowa scored Maryland and Indiana as their cross division games and they are in the West which is generally considered the easier division by folks. Anyone care to agree that Ferentz just got a handout from the conference?

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I had to have a look at that Rutgers schedule since I am pullin for the Knights to prove everyone wrong......why did I decide to do this? That schedule is a beast. You got the East schedule PLUS Wisconsin and Nebraska. Seriously...it is like every major program was pulling weight to get a game against Rutgers.

Scheduling Maryland and Rutgers for Wisconsin, what's up with that?

Yeah, this Really surprised me. I knew that Iowa, Nebraska and the Big Ten really wanted to turn the match up into a major rivalry in the future but at the cost of the Iowa/Minnesota rivalry? Way too fast! We should have ended with Minnesota and then perhaps in the future if we actually are able to build a REAL rivalry with Nebraska then that can take over but for now it just seems like they are giving Wisconsin and Nebraska cake walks for the final game of the season. I am an Iowa fan but we are at a serious low point right now and I am not sure where the light at the end of the tunnel is.

You call the Rutgers/Maryland series the Blue Claw Cup.

This is great for Rutgers. A line up like this coming into town will really put the butts in the seats and help continue to grow their fan base. I wouldn't be shocked if they were pushing for this.

I can easily see Rutgers at 6-6 or 7-5 in year one and a win against Cuse in the Pinstripe Bowl.
