2015-16 Basketball Schedule (What You Would Do) - army56mike - 01-03-2015 12:36 AM

Say you were the LU AD and had the chance to make the 2015-16 basketball OOC basketball schedule for LU (12-14 games), who would you strategically schedule to maximize the LU brand and potential for wins?

1. Virginia..... In state and just up the road and ACC matchup
2. Rutgers..... Large recruiting area and BIG matchup
3. Kentucky..... Everyone would know your name and see a highlight and it's an SEC game
4. UCLA..... Large recruiting area, west coast exposure, PAC 12 game
5. Baylor..... Texas exposure and Big 12 game
6. ODU..... The more games the better with them in all sports
7. BYU..... We obviously can't get them in FB so BB is a start
8. Notre Dame..... See above note
9. St. Joseph's..... Good media exposure in Philly, recognizable but beatable name, good A10 game
10. Belmont..... Good brand name opponent, nice market to be in
11. Valparaiso..... They have good players coming out of IN
12. Seattle..... another left coast exposure game, good recruiting area
13. Louisiana Lafayette..... Just to play a competitive Sun Belt team
14. Missouri St...... Have a chance to beat a team from the competitive MVC

We'd start the season off at best 5-9 (dreaming), but we'd be toughened up for BSC competition, we'd have gotten our name into major markets, it'd be a national schedule, and we'd play some historic programs.

RE: 2015-16 Basketball Schedule (What You Would Do) - GE and MTS - 01-03-2015 10:03 AM

I also would like a national schedule because LU is branding itself as the world's premier Christian university. Try to capture the fandom of as many of the online students/graduates as you can.

I think it would be best to play one game against a Big Ten, ACC, Big 12, Pac 12, and SEC school. Which ones they are, it doesn't matter. Just for argument's sake I'll say Minnesota, Florida State, Texas Tech, Cal, and Georgia. A mix of winnable games in good recruiting markets.

I think Virginia would be a great rivalry in basketball for stealing McKay, even if it showed the character of McKay. This would be a good game in addition to the other ACC school.

Then I'd like to load up with 2-3 Sun Belt, 2-3 CUSA, and 1-2 MAC teams to get some on campus and show them our team and support for a possible FBS invite.

Then sprinkle in the remaining holes with winnable D1 games. NO NON-DIVISION 1 OPPONENTS!

Liberty should schedule it's games against NAIA and DII teams as the preseason scrimmages. They should have three of those.
