RE: All-Conference Awards - pilot172000 - 03-09-2015 10:59 AM Congrats !!! RE: All-Conference Awards - BlazerGold09 - 03-09-2015 10:59 AM Very deserving 1st team. Well done guys. I believe Freeman and Hill were All-Academic as well. RE: All-Conference Awards - NanoDawg - 03-09-2015 11:00 AM Congrats to all players - very well deserved. Just a bit surprised that only 1 UAB player showed up on the list. May be one of them will get Freshman of the year award. The 1st and 2nd teams should be filled with upper-classmen assuming there are players worthy. Our freshman have played wonderful but I would not put any of the 3 on 1st or 2nd team. I'd be shocked if we didn't get all 3 on the All-Freshman team, however. As far as FOY goes, I think Lee would be most likely. Cokley is making a great case for 6th man. RE: All-Conference Awards - 07owl - 03-09-2015 11:33 AM Very happy for Seth Gearhart. If not for wave after wave of transfers, he would have been perfectly suited as a 3rd option on a decent team. But he stuck with a program pretty much completely devoid of talent and made a huge leap as a senior. Last year he scored 6.8 ppg on 35% shooting; this year it's 15.4 ppg on 45% shooting, with a couple 30 point games under his belt. Only had 2 career 20 point games before this year when he had 7. RE: All-Conference Awards - stanman505 - 03-09-2015 12:03 PM I am a little surprised Julian Washburn didn't make at least third team. He averaged 10 points, and 4.1 rebounds. While those stats are ok, it was Washburn's defensive effort that was amazing. He is always assigned to defend the other team's best scorer. Here are some of the top players in the league's stats when Washburn was guarding them. 1. Trey Freeman 3-9 for 6 total points 2. Jeromie Hill, game #1 3-10 for 10 points, game #2 6-11 for 14 points He wont get defensive POY either because he doesn't have a ton of steals or blocks but he is worthy of all conference honorable mention. RE: All-Conference Awards - ThreeifbyLightning - 03-09-2015 12:21 PM So, Middle Tennessee the only team not named FAU with no one on either of the three teams. Ok. MTSU is a low scoring, defensive team. A lot of these voters go by scoring average only. I would have thought Upshaw would have been on there. RE: All-Conference Awards - WKUFan518 - 03-09-2015 12:32 PM MTSU and UAB were all pretty balanced scoring teams....Did not have really one individual to stand out to be a top 15 player in CUSA IMO... RE: All-Conference Awards - ThreeifbyLightning - 03-09-2015 01:25 PM Yep, it amazes me how naive the people are who spend the most time with these teams and know them the best that they can't objectively evaluate on any other basis than how many points someone scored. The people who vote on these are paramount to 13 year old girls view on life. "Oooh, ahhh its shiny and so pretty." RE: All-Conference Awards - ThreeifbyLightning - 03-09-2015 01:27 PM And amazingly it has always been that way and I suspect always will. RE: All-Conference Awards - USMSTUD - 03-09-2015 01:39 PM The problem with having so many teams in the conference is you'll always have some players deserving of a place left off. Glad to see Chip Armelin made it even if it was third team. RE: All-Conference Awards - wkuhilltopperfan - 03-09-2015 04:57 PM I think freeman gets POY. Kid killed it in his last game |
