CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Since his jumper in the regional final sent East Tech to the state semifinal, Scarabs freshman Markell Johnson has become one of the most popular local basketball recruits in the Class of 2017.
As his recruitment soars, Johnson, who is being looked at by schools including Ohio State and Michigan State, spoke with Zach Fleer of Land-Grant Holy Land about East Tech and being courted by college coaches.
When asked if any particular school would be a top choice for Johnson, he singled out an SEC school and perhaps gave a hint to where a fellow big-time Cleveland recruit might be headed.
"Just like my man Carlton Bragg, [it's] Kentucky," Johnson told Fleer.
Johnson also spoke on what type of player he is and how focused he is on his sport.
"I am a humble young man that does nothing but play basketball," Johnson told Fleer. "I'm also a pass-first point guard but when my team needs points, I do the best that I can."

Same guy I believe, the site I looked at labeled him as a "soft verbal". I guess that means he's fair game still.

Two different kids. The 2016 version is from NYC and is going to UConn. 2017 recruit is from Mali and going to school in St Louis...

Listen closely newbie. We may differentiate among players by height, quickness, attitude, class year, effort, coachability etc...common
among all Bearcat players. Race has no place on that list. I'd expect Cronin is recruiting the "BEST Possible" recruit...(really? you actually asked that question?)
