Bro, chill.

Quote:Whigham, a senior, was asked about the Florida State war chant, something he will be hearing plenty of Saturday when Syracuse (3-4, 1-2 ACC) faces No. 17 Florida State (6-1, 4-1) at Doak Campbell Stadium.

“That is the most annoying thing to hear,” Whigham told Syracuse.com. “I hate Florida State because of it. Before I didn’t really have any problem with Florida State. We just played them, all right, game on the schedule.

“I really hate playing them because I have to listen to that more.”

And Whigham was not happy getting an extra dose of the war chant this week.

“Guys just be humming it to themselves,” he said. “It is the worst. I want to choke Seamus (Shanley), my locker mate. He was singing it to himself right after practice. It’s the most annoying sound to deal with, and it makes you want to punch somebody.”

Pitt, when did you stat doing helmet stickers?

Pitt, do you have a pink panther mascot on the sideline? If not, why not?

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - georgia_tech_swagger - 10-29-2015 07:21 PM

UNC winning the Coastal is just as embarrassing as Missouri winning the SEC East last year after losing to Indiana. But the SEC won't get the hate the ACC will for it.

I can hear it now: South Carolina ... 5th best in the SEC East ... best in the ACC Coastal.

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - Marge Schott - 10-29-2015 07:28 PM

Well, Pitt ain't winning this game. But their crowd is larger than a Miami crowd.

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - georgia_tech_swagger - 10-29-2015 07:34 PM

I see Narduzzi is a graduate of the Les Miles School of Clock Mismanagement

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - dawgitall - 10-29-2015 07:56 PM

Awfully hard to pull for either of these teams. I guess I'll go for Pitt to make the second half comeback.

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - Dasville - 10-29-2015 08:36 PM

Narduzzi just seems like a great fit for Pitt.
He looks and acts like a guy that should coach Pitt.
Hope he stays when Mich St job opens.
This job seems perfect for both him and Pittsburgh.

After this last punt, allow me to channel my inner "Billy Packer" :

This game is over.

Actually, it was over when Pitt elected to punt on 4th and inches to start the 4th quarter.

I don't know. Fedora has been playing not to lose the whole 2nd half.

2 score game 4:40 left with UNC making big 1st down. UNC looking strong

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - Marge Schott - 10-29-2015 09:10 PM

So why does the clock not stop when you go out of bounds prior to 2 minutes remaining in the game?

RE: Open Thread - Week 9 - ClairtonPanther - 10-29-2015 11:23 PM

UNC was the better team. Hats off to them. They made the plays that they needed to and the second Pitt started grabbing any mo, UNC grabbed it right back. I'd say the Pitt's final nail was going 3 & out and settling for a FG after the blocked punt.

I won't blame the refs for Pitt losing, but they were downright terrible.

Arizona St loses despite 741 yards of offense vs Oregon. ASU should have won going away but missed 3 FG's, allowed a kickoff TD, and let UO take it to OT on a miracle play. Then you open the door for horrific reffing. Officials fail to overturn a blown call on the field in the 3rd OT that gave UO a TD despite the receivers first foot down being clearly out of bounds.

What good is replay if the officials watching are morons? There was no dispute, the receivers toes were clearly out of bounds. Horrible call, using slow motion & a still photo even! No excuse for incompetence.

It stops momentarily and then starts when the ball is set until the last 2 minutes of each half.

I think the rule is, if either foot is down in bounds, it is a good catch. What the first foot does is irrelevant. In the NFL that is no catch.

But why? That's always been the rule? That's ridiculous if the ONLY way to actually stop the clock is via a TO.

It changed in 2008 to make games faster I think. It works the same as getting a first down.
