San Diego St and Colorado St are challenging ECU for the lead with most P5 games scheduled with 7 P5 home games scheduled so far over next decade. ECU has 8 P5 home games scheduled. Hawaii, Old Dominion & Uconn have 6.

In 2019 Rice has Wake & Baylor at home with Texas down the road at NRG.

*Im not counting CSU's neutrals vs Colorado in Denver or Uconn vs BC in Fenway.

UConn and BC was originally gonna be a home game for UConn, but they changed it to Fenway park. So it is still technically a home game for uconn based on the amount of tickets that UConn has to sell VS. BC and because it was supposed to be a Rentschler Field.

I already count Navy's home games vs ND, including a game in San Diego as an AAC "home game". I don't count Colorado St's yearly Denver games with Colorado as CSU home games...I could add Uconn vs BC as a Uconn home game, but then I'd feel compelled to add other games like that. I originally only counted home games as on your campus, but a Navy fan got on me about that because of the Notre Dame series. I just want to be fair. I think it's an interesting metric to use, particularly since the AAC is touting itself as "P6". "Power" schools get home games vs other power schools. Plus it gives the fan bases future scheduling news.

UConn vs BC should be counted in my opinion because it was scheduled as a UConn home game and UConn accepted an offer from Fenway to move it in exchange for payment. It's part of a home and home series.

Will there be more UConn or BC fans there? Will it be louder in the stadium when UConn is on defense, or offense? That decides whether it's a home game.

SMU has the hated froggies at home every other year in football and basketball. Screw TCU. And we used to get Texas A&M and Baylor for home-and-home matchups but that hasn't been renewed starting next year.

You're criteria is completely subjective. By all objective criteria, this was a game that BC agreed to play at UConn and UConn made a deal to move it to Fenway.

Riddle me this. Why do teams generally have better records at home than on the road? The answer is what matters when considering what counts as home or away.

I thought the point of this thread was more about non P5 conference schools being able to schedule home games against P5 schools. That's the issue I'm talking about not atmosphere at the games.

And playing Boston College in Boston is NOT a home game. Teams get paid to play away all the time, but that doesn't make it a home game. It can barely be called a neutral field game.

Okay, but this was not offered to UConn as a neutral site game. It was scheduled as a UConn home game. I think that is significant, you don't. Whatever. It's still a UConn home game and UConn is the one that decided to move it and will be getting paid.

There is another thread about home field advantage.

If the conversation is about a contract that says home-and-home, and ticket $, and TV rights, then NavyND in even numbered years is definitely Navy home game.
If the conversation is about atmosphere delivering advantage...well Jax was reportedly majority Navy crowd, but I'm not going to ascribe the win to it. San Diego in 18 should be Navy crowd. Meadowlands in '20 will be full of Subway Irish fans like always (though I note we whupped em there in 10)

I'll also note that I don't consider our 91% capacity crowd particularly intimidating, even though we're riding a 14-game regular season win streak at NMCMS

RE: Home games vs P5 by conference - CornellCoog - 06-05-2017 10:08 PM

BC can't get many fans to alumni field. They'll get less to Fenway because I've heard from many in Boston that Fenway sucks for football and they've already had the novelty game there with ND.

If this is being run as a UConn home game like the ND game was (ND was the home team at Fenway and BC fans got about 4,500 seats) then no doubt UConn fans will outnumber the Eagles.

However, as a fan, I'd be pissed if we moved a home game to another team's home city.

That's why I'm struggling as counting this as a home game for Uconn. A home game against Boston College in Boston? I understand the Uconn fan's point about it being designated a home game for Uconn.

The way I see it if you aren't playing at your home arena or at the very least somewhere in town, then you can't consider it a home game. Its a neutral site game at best but given the fact that they are going to Boston, I'd lean more towards calling it a road game. In fact I don't even get why UConn fans would want to call it a home game. If you go play another school in their city and beat them then you should get credit for winning on the road. Calling it a home game would lessen the win.

Exactly. South Carolina just cancelled our game against them in Greenville for 2019. If they had paid us to move it to Columbia or Charlotte, and we accepted, it's no longer a home game. Yes, we'd get paid, but we'd get paid to go...on the road.

You may be missing the fact that BC is not paying us though. Fenway is paying UConn. They are the ones who are trying to get all of the regional New England schools to schedule home games at Fenway. This was between Fenway and UConn. A large part of UConn's goal is to market UConn in the Boston market and have a novelty game that is still close to home.

STORRS, Conn. (June 7, 2017)— The football game between the University of Connecticut and Boston College at Fenway Park in Boston on November 18, 2017 will be played at 7:00 pm and televised nationally on CBS Sports Network, it was announced Wednesday by UConn and CBS Sports Network. The Huskies are the host for the game, which is part of The Fenway Gridiron Series presented by Your Call Football.

“When we announced this event, we promised a first class experience for our alumni and fans”, said UConn Director of Athletics David Benedict. “To date we have sold a significant share of our ticket allotment and setting a game time will allow everyone to lock in their plans for what will most definitely be a memorable day and night of UConn Football. This is a great opportunity for our fan base to show its support for the program, sell our complete offering of tickets and turn Boston into UConn Nation.”

“I want to thank our partners at CBS Sports and the American Athletic Conference for making it possible for this game time to be set so far in advance,” said Benedict. “One of the goals of working with Fenway Sports Management to move this home game was to create an event that people would not want to miss. We also wanted to make sure that UConn fans all over the country would be able to experience the 2017 edition of this New England rivalry, whether in person or on national television. This is a match-up that should be televised annually and we are excited that this year it will be.”

pretty much solidifies AAC as P6. MWC puts up a valiant effort but the rest of the G4 can't get home games with a P5.
