All meaningless. It's way too early to feel this sort of stuff means something. How we play our first game will give me a good idea how the team has or hasn't meshed together.

It's not meaningless. It's a fact that Charleston Southern returns around 19 starters from last year, so why wouldn't they be picked first. These pre season rankings are usually a good indicator of how the season is going to go. You'll always have a few suprises though.

The year after we made that fairly deep run in the playoffs we had a bunch of starters come back. That didn't really mean much since we didn't get the auto bid and no at large. So I don't put much faith in preseason rankings.

Pre season rating provide a snapshot of how others perceive the teams. With CS gathering 16 1st place votes and LU 1, that shows how others feel about the status of the LU program.

The winner of the conference the previous year that returns almost everyone should get those votes.

I can't blame the voters for putting Charleston Southern ahead of Liberty for all the reasons mentioned here. I am disappointed that Liberty isn't the favorite and that's without Coastal Carolina anymore and this is Coach Gill's fifth season at the helm with a team made up entirely of his guys. You'd expect him to be hitting his stride but instead it feels like we're spinning our wheels while we get passed by.
Luckily, the season hasn't begun yet and we have plenty of time to prove our worth. Anything can happen and I hope we win the conference and make the playoffs.

7-4 (3-2) Kennessaw St.
3-8 (2-3) GW
3-8 (2-3) Monmouth
2-9 (0-5) Presbyterian

The recruiting violations announced this week takes a bit of the shine off what Chadwell has done down there in North Charleston. But the Bucs are the clear favorites that I am anxious to see us dethrone this year.
