Amazon Firestick - Billy_Bearcat - 07-30-2017 04:36 PM

Anyone have a Firestick use Exodus to stream movies? Seems it's gotten intermittent lately. Are there new apps taking its place?

I've got one and am having the same issue. The person who used to maintain Exodus has stopped due to pressure of possible legal action. They did however, leave it functioning, so it'll work until it doesn't, but don't expect anything new popping up.

There are a handful of upstarts that have emerged up as heirs, but I'm just going to wait for one to claim the throne, before I put a bunch of effort into it. If you're in a hurry Specto is probably your best bet, but it runs a bit slow now due to increased traffic.

Thanks hf!

Damn, I love me some Kodi + Exodus

SpectoFork and if you get the Exodus add on from another repository besides fusion(tvaddons) then it seems to work better.

Similar to "Netflix Suggestions" I'd like to kick off some Firestick suggestions. I watched a movie called Back Country last night about a killer bear based on a true story it wasn't bad. I also liked "Train to Busan" but I believe that one is on Netflix as well.

Covenant is the new "Exodus".

Mr Mercedes (Stephen King novel)
Brockmire (Comedy)
Little Big Lies
Ozarks

The Big Sick
Hunt for the Wilderpeople

I would recommend trying the new FireTV (hardwired) if you haven't yet.
Picture Quality is much better and it doesn't lag as much.

...and you don't lose/misplace the fire stick remote all the time like we do in our house.

RE: Amazon Firestick - BeerCat - 11-03-2017 04:43 PM

Just picked up my box of cat6 and I'll be wiring my house this weekend and then likely ordering the new FireTV.

My favorite Kodi Apps

Ares Wizard- all-in-one setup for Kodi that installs Apps, Addons, Builds, Maintenance and more.
Pulse is my favorite build

Covenant- My favorite app to watch shows and movies.

BENNU
SportsDevil- good for MMA or NFL games
BOB Unleashed
Elysium
UK Turk’s Playlists

Trakt & Kyra (iphone App) are a great combo to save time having to search for movies and TV shows on Kodi.

Has anyone added Kodi themselves? I did it with my fire stick once by following along with a YouTube video. But that involved that black command screen. It was pretty intimidating. I was hoping there’s an easier way by now. I just got the new firetv and I want to add it. Anyone have any advice?

Request For Proposal:

I need a step by step on how to do all of this including hardware needed and I will buy the winning proposal beers at a UC game of their choice.

Wife has told me to make this happen and it’s info overload with opinions ...I suffer from paralysis by analysis.

Ok. I have Kodi added. Just need to figure out the whole add ons thing.

It’s a pretty repetitive process to get add-ons. Once you’ve done a few it becomes pretty easy. Here’s a link for a specific add-on but all you have to do is find the url of the add-on you want and replace it.

I got exodus added. It just feels so clunky to me. No way for my wife to be able to use it.

Also what Addons should I have other than exodus?

RE: Amazon Firestick - BeerCat - 12-07-2017 04:35 PM

When I try to watch something on exodus I get a message that says something about openload stream authorization. What the hell is that.

RE: Amazon Firestick - BearcatnKY - 12-07-2017 05:02 PM

I use Fantastic now mostly. It pretty much the equivalent of Exodus and Genesis. Those are really all you need until one gets shutdown and then they just reappear under a new name, but it’s all essentially the same they just have more streams and higher quality than the ones they stop updating.

You can try some of these:
http://www.wirelesshack.org/top-best-working-kodi-video-add-ons.html

As far as the wife and even saving yourself time, it’s easier if you declutter the main screen. You really only need the Addons, Favorites and Settings tabs. The Weather, Radio, Picture, etc can all be eliminated by going into Settings and disabling them on the Home Layout. I change the skin to Amber. It’s a more visually appealing background.

Also, save some time if she or you have a list of favorite shows/movies or ones you anticipate watching and add them to Favorites. After you search for them once through Fantastic/Exodus and find the particular show/ movie, click the button that looks like 3 lines and scroll down to add to Favorites. Now all you have to do is click Favorites and choose whatever you want to watch.

You can play around with the particular addons once you feel comfortable to where you can turn off the streams that ask for Captcha and lower the search time (after 20 seconds you’ve usually found the highest quality streams from the most reliable sources). It’s usually under the Tools section if you scroll down after opening the add-on.

Seems like a lot of info but the more you get comfortable with it it becomes like scrolling through a cable guide to find something.
