TIBL uses balsa wood.

mturn lives in the woods and has very little landscaping. mturn wife gets a bag of mulch or two from lowes in the spring for the few beds we have. she seems to prefer the black tinted mulch but I'm not sure what it's made of. pine chips maybe?

I'm the only neighbor that has pine straw. Yep, they know the dude from NC! Everyone else has mulch. Don't see a reason to buy mulch when the pine straw just falls from the tree.

Speaking of bugs and stink, how bad are the stink bugs in your area? About 5 years ago we had em by the thousands at my house but the past few years hasn't been as bad. They'll get in the house and come out when there's a warm day or we got a fire going but only a couple.
