Folks, I am no medical doctor or professional pathologist and am just speaking from the standpoint of being an ex-football player who enjoyed playing the game, got an education and the memories that go along with it. But I am a little alarmed at the idea of some other folks out there in La La Land judging the sport we all love and contriving a way to limit it or do away with it altogether at every level.
So let me give an important reason why those so called experts should drop the "do away with football" cause: Its the best thing that has happened to minorities in this country since the emancipation proclamation in 1863.
Just think about this for a second. There are more black football players receiving a free education and more black players becoming millionaires now through college footbal and the NFL than ever before. Its an opportunity that shouldn't be eliminated because of a few control freaks in the media and politics that see an opportunity for more control over our lives. Now that is not a medical opinion, because Im not a doctor or scientist, but I'd like to see those in charge of this push to stop tackle football to visit the live bodies of some of these kids and young men and ask the question - "Are you happy playing this game even if it might in some way someday be harmful to your health?" I am now well beyond retirement, but i can tell you this, I wouldn't trade those years playing FB for anything.

I agree......but there are some people who see it as a male privilege and males getting a lot of attention........they will do anything to see it end. They will try to make little changes and then a little more changes until it isn't football........it will take time but in this politically correct world I would be worried if I was a football fan.

I just don't like the idea of having the sport taken over by people that have never played it and some of whom don't like it because they seem to reject it as too violent. But if they think that, then they should not go to a game, not watch one of TV and of course not allow their kids to participate. I am OK with them having the freedom to "not" play it. But for the others that would like a quality, free education and the possibility of playing pro ball, coaching the game etc. it should be up to that person to decide. Ive never seen a parent that forced their kid into playing this great game when the child didn't want to. Encourage? yes, but force? No!
There are just so many positives for the player that most kids desperately want to do it or wish they had. And they should be allowed to decide to do it or not (with the consultation of their loving parents of course). IMHO
