TU v Navy - rabidTU2 - 09-28-2017 11:12 AM

Heard that there would be some Naval personell at the TU/Navy game on saturday who serve on the newly commissioned "USS Tulsa". I really like that.

Please! No knees saturday. 01-ncaabbs

Just to let you know.

Could be a good game if we had a passing attack!! Navy practices against the run constantly, so I don't see our running game doing too much without a strong passing game. Navy should be able to run against our defense on a pretty consistent basis.......again this week, no passing attack.......their defense can concentrate on our running game.....it could get ugly. Navy 35--Tulsa 10

What we need to see imo is the defense getting off the field as quick as possible and not allowing sustained drives where they eat time and yardage. What I see happening is that our defense allows too many possessions and those are too time consuming. But if we could find a way to win, it could turn around our season imo.

Think about this.......we passed for a grand total of 25 yds more than Navy........a non passing team......let that sink in(no pun intended) if you think we don't need a new QB. If we don't have a passing QB on the team now......recruit a Juco or a good H.S. passing QB. Tulsa is never going to be able to recruit the top 320lb lineman to just run over people.......Tulsa has been very successful with a top flight passing game and until we get that back.......we're in bad shape!!!!!

I somewhat agree, but with reservations.

We have what we have talentwise and its obvious to me that PM is trying to develope that talent for the next game and the next and so on. And playing these option teams means they negate a lot of our offensive snaps. We just don't have the time on the clock to run the number of plays he wants. We just need to keep breaking plays to make this offense work and right now we don't quite have the breakaway talent (at QB as you say) on the field from what i see. But another problem is that we lost some kids that could be playing right now that would be difference makers like Keevan and Belcher. IMO those two were difference makers from last year.

We've been to 5 bowls in the last 7 years, so there is an occasional slide that is almost inevitable. But there are still 7 games left. We'll see where all this leads. But yes, its hard to visualize what the final record will be right now.

On another note - I am really peeved at the TW again resurrecting that bozo Bill Haisten to cover us. He has already proved how anti-TU he is, but he is the proverbial bad penny that shows up at the most opportune time (for him). I've noticed that the TW is trying to get back some of their TU readers they lost because of him and others at that rag, but one of them will never be me. As long as they employ him, I'm gone.

So Haisten, you can go away and do it real soon you bag of wind. Take your typewriter and stick it where the sun don't shine. And TW, quit sending me the TU articles on my phone. You lost my business!

Sorry about the rant - I think.

No matter what feelings you have about Haisten. I thought he summed it up pretty good in his article.

RE: TU v Navy - Hurricane Drummer - 10-02-2017 10:03 AM

The play calling became too conservative and we did not play uptempo for most of the 2nd and 3rd quarters. When we went uptempo and mixed in the quick passes we were nearly unstoppable.
