clt recommends checking out dvds from your local library.
I tied that but the librarian said that clt had checked out all the Mr. Rogers DVD's.

12 Monkeys had it's finale tonight. Good series. A little hard to follow in some seasons but this 4 week, 11 episode season tied a lot of the hard to follow stuff together and it was really good. They brought back, thru the use of time travel, many of the characters that had died off and put them to use to make the ending work.

Show pays decent homage to the movie and fills in a lot of gaps about what was going on between Cole's trips back in time, and so much more. Lots of cameo roles in the series, as well, such as Dutch from The Shield.

If you like "thinking" sci-fi , and don't mind getting a little lost for a while till it all become clear then I'd definitely recommend Twelve Monkeys. It's very binge-watchable.

The wife and I have watched a few episodes of Banished on Amazon Prime. British criminals sent to New South Wales. It is an austere situations with small food supplies, British troops to keep the inmates in line, hard work, women prisoners shared among the troops and inmates. Severe punishment for the inmates that break the rules but it all makes for a good story. It gets one by before the fall camps begin. Some very good acting but the accents and differences in verbiage will force you to pay close attention to what they are saying. I find it very interesting. For the GOT people you will Rory McCann (The Hound) is back to his surly ways and causes some of the consternation in the story line.

I plan on binging A Very English Scandal on Prime tonight. I hope it's more Mrs. Maisel quality than it is Man in the High Castle (which I still like).

They came out with a movie in 1998 by the same title, which completely sucked. But they now have a new Lost In Space series, completely updated, not silly like the original, and it's actually not bad.

This was excellent. I was shocked how good it was and how much the science made sense.

We finished Banished and it was an excellent watch. Too bad they didn't continue the series. There are some unexpected twists in the plot which kept it very interesting. These English actors are far better actors than the typical American actors from my experience in these series. It may have something to do with the American stories tend to depend too much on fame and glitz and don't truly get into story like the English. I had high hopes for The Last Kingdom as the first episode was well done. Then the second episode strayed from the story line by the stupid playful romantics which completely detracted from the story for me. It was too American for me I guess.

I just finished season 4 of Bosch. It gets better every season. It’s one of Amazon’s best shows and is based on Michael Connelly’s novels. Highly recommended.

Season 5 has already been scheduled. I can’t wait!

I really enjoyed the Expanse. Some of the political intrigue reminded me a lot of the Battlestar Gallactica reboot.

Brilliant show. The science is also spot on.

I finished watching the second season of Ozark. It was really good. Better Call Saul is very good too and about half way through the new season.

Americans finally got some recognition last night. It wasn't a show built to win awards but definitely worthy of them. Matthew Rys won an Emmy for what I guess is best actor category in a drama. His performances on the Americans were top notch.

The Americans was a great show. Glad to see it getting credit for its efforts.

Just started watching "The Sinner" on Netflix. Only 2 episodes in----but so far its pretty darn intriguing. "Sharp Objects" on HBO was interesting as well--the finale was good---but I found the pacing to be a bit on the slow moving side at times. Both The Sinner and Sharp Objects are 8 episode shows---so you're not going to invest a ridiculous amount of time in them.

Also, I found this season of Hard Knocks to be really fun (follows the Cleveland Browns this year). I think Baker Mayfield going to be pretty good.

I enjoy discovering some Netflix series before they become big and super popular. I think I watched seasons 1 of The Crown, Stranger Things and Ozark, well before they reached critical mass, but I have yet to watch seasons 2 of any of them. Go figure. Lost in Space was another one in that category (although there hasn't been a season 2 of that one yet). I'd rank those 4 The Crown, Ozark, Stranger Things and Lost in Space in that order.

A new one I'm watching now and am almost through with is Norm MacDonald Has A Show. His style of humor isn't for everyone and admittedly, he's not great about focusing in on specific topics, but I am kind of enjoying (a) a talk show that isn't political at all, and (b) a 30 minute talk show with 1 guest and an interesting array of guests. If you like his sense of humor, start with the first episode (David Spade). If not, skip Spade and some of the other comedians and just try watching a show with him and an actor like Drew Barrymore, Jane Fonda or Michael Keaton. The show does improve with subsequent episodes as MacDonald actually tries to concentrate on his questions (maybe he isn't high or drunk?).

Go ahead and watch season 2 of Ozarks. I think that show is really hitting its stride. I actually thought season 2 was better than season 1.

I saw Norm's 1st episode with David Spade. Those two clowns had me rolling on the floor. 03-lmfao

IMO, David Spade is America's most under-rated comedian. He keeps you laughing throughout a story, without us having to wait until the end for a bid laugh. When Norm kept telling Spade they had to break away for a commercial (but really didn't), it was funny as hell. Then Spade told his story about appearing on the "Johnny Carson" show as a young comedian. All very, very funny stuff.

Agreed. IMO, Season 2 of Ozark was much better than Season 1.
