As the craziness keeps getting crazy. With the left leaning media taunting the right leaning media, and vice versa. With "s__thole" and "a__holes" making the broadcast evening news, where are the censors when we need them? Let's put all aside and simply ask, what party do you expect to vote for in 2020?

On a national level I will vote for the Republicans but locally and statewide I will probably stick with my trend of Democrats.

Haven't voted for anyone but libertarians in quite a while, don't see anybody out there likely to make me change my mind this time. I vote on issues, not personalities, and while not every one of my issue positions aligns with libertarians, more do than anywhere else. In the most republican county in the US, deep in the heart of Texas, I doubt my vote will decide any elections. So I think registering a protest vote is the best use of my vote.

If I still lived in Florida I'd maaaaaybe consider voting for Trump if the next two and a half years went perfectly and he was facing someone like Warren, but it'd still be an iffy proposition. Now that I'm in Illinois I have no qualms about voting L for POTUS even if a relative buffoon like Johnson is nominated, the only Republican I can see myself voting for in the future would be Rand but one would think he wouldn't even try for POTUS until 2024. Locally I'll probably lean towards the GOP, but more often than not it'll be write-in candidates since I live in the 5th bluest district in the nation (perfect counter-example to Owl...) and I doubt they run many Republicans around here.

We usually see more libertarians than democrats in local races around here.
The country races could be interesting this time around. There are all sorts of unconfirmed rumors about various alleged improprieties on the part of incumbents (none of which is backed by any hard evidence, as far as I know), we had a road bond election that was very unpopular, and the SJRA (led by several of the county judge's good buddies) made a complete hash of Hurricane Harvey. So there's room for some changes. I doubt we'll elect any democrats, but there are republican challengers to the incumbents. And who knows, we might just elect a libertarian or two.

With two counties in northern Virginia virtually controlling the state, my vote won't matter in 2020.
Thus, unless the Libertarian candidate is a total whack job (and the pothead Johnson did not reach this disqualifying threshold), I will save my political soul and once again vote third party.

Because in Florida, a presidential vote might matter. In Illinois, or in Texas where I am, the result is preordained by such a margin that it doesn't matter. Even if a republican carries Illinois, or a democrat carries Texas, then the election is such a landslide that it really doesn't matter.

Because the I-4 corridor is perhaps the single most important electoral zone in the United States and I lived right on it. If the 2016 election had been say, Kasich against Hillary, I wouldn't be so hot about the former but I may have been inclined to vote for him in Florida as a vote against her (and I seldom vote to keep someone else from winning) because I didn't find him to be evil, I wasn't a huge fan of Johnson, and your vote can legitimately matter in the Sunshine State. In the Land of Lincoln that last point is not the case.
At the end of the day no vote is certain, even if it's a pretty good guess that the winner of my congressional race in 2028 will be a Democrat unless I'm redistricted. No one thought a year ago that a Democrat could win the Alabama senate seat since extreme circumstances during a campaign are always possible. So can a Republican win Illinois in 2020? Sure, if there's another Great Chicago Fire that forces all the residents of the west and south sides of the city to move to Wisconsin and Indiana, the Democratic nominee dies two days before the election, a bunch of voters downstate clone themselves, and a few priests commit a blood sacrifice to Ra. But in short it ain't happening, at least Virginia was purple not too long ago.

I don't vote for a party. I vote for or against a candidate based on where their platform relates to mine. In the 2016 Presidential election I would have voted for Jim Webb had he been on the ballot, but my entire life the left has nominated crap candidates.

I'll almost certainly vote for Republicans. And I suspect the Republicans will win in 2020 nationally. As James Carville said, "It's the economy, stupid." The economy is going well right now and all the Democrats are running on is, "We aren't Trump," just like Romney ran on "I'm not Obama." Its a losing platform.

As a registered Indy in FL, it was tough for me to cast my poll saying I expect to vote democratic in 2020. I knew the poll question providing party choice vs. candidates would likely cause a pause before answering. I'm more in alignment with the Libertarian perspective but feel without a mass insurgency of voter interest, that would be a wasted vote and could cause the current regime to be elected to another term. As much as I have to pinch my nose because of the political stench, I expect to vote democratic in 2020.

We don't get Libertarians very often in Arkansas, more likely to get a Green running than a Libertarian.
Funny thing is until the 2012 cycle, the GOP would concede some races, even state-wide and your choice was vote Democrat, vote Green, or not vote. I ended up voting for several Green's just make my opposition known. I may end up voting Green some in 2018 if the Dems concede a race against someone I dislike (though there are few people I dislike more than the Dem AG we had in 2010 when the Green opponent got 27%). Greens have only one state race winning a legislative seat in 2008
Locally I'll probably vote GOP for state legislature because my rep and senator are moderate by 2016 standards (ie. they vote like traditional Republicans and won't embarrass me by saying coloreds shouldn't smoke pot because they have different genes) both have been responsive and will take time to explain why they will or will not vote the way I ask. County level the GOP candidate I liked lost the primary and while I supported his opponent in the general, I won't support him again, he tried to reduce the sheriff's budget for patrol vehicles even though the sheriff's office already keeps patrol vehicles longer than any city police department in the county.

Really depends. Our last Democrat governor was a fiscal conservative and when he left office the governor with the highest approval rate in the nation. Had to fight like hell against the GOP legislature to cut the sales tax on groceries. Managed to stave off cuts to higher ed. Pushed a new higher ed funding formula would that would starve four year schools of funding for remediation to try to force them to nudge kids not ready for college into the two year schools and reward student retention and degree progress. Only got part of it and our Republican governor dusted off the unpassed parts put a new name on them and got the rest passed. Our current GOP governor wants to reimpose the full sales tax on groceries and give low income people a "rebate" on their tax return so he can cut the income tax from 6.9% on everything over $35,100 to 6.9% from 35,100 to $150,000 and then drop it to 6% on $150,001 and up. I'll end up paying a net $150 a year to fund the income tax cut. Someone paying $100 a week on groceries making less than $150,000 will pay an extra $260 a year to pay for the tax cut for people making more than $150,000.

I'm in Tarrant County (Fort Worth/Arlington) so it's not as red as other parts Texas but my vote wouldn't really matter on the national level if voting for either of the two primary parties. I find myself aligning with libertarians more than other parties anyways, although of course I do not align with every position. Unless the Libertarian candidate is such a complete nutjob I'll vote for him/her in the next election. Rand Paul could also get my vote, but I doubt he'll be running in 2020. He could be a good candidate in 2024 though. I've voted for Johnson each of the last two elections but voted Republican prior to that (first election in 2000)

Oklahoma so my vote doesn't matter either. Will vote for any primary challenger if one steps forward, Trump will remain the nominee, then libertarian in November like last time, even if that's Johnson's gardener.
But if I were in a state that mattered and the left ran a Warren or equally destructive individual, I'd just have to live with the self loathing and vote Trump.

While I lean a little more liberal than most libertarians, this is how I feel. That said, barring some major changes in TN, I could probably go 3rd party in a presidential election, because Tennessee will go repub. If I like the 3rd party candidate better, so be it, if not, I'll likely vote democrat.

Voting for someone solely because of their party is like voting for them because of their gender. I haven't voted for anybody in a long time. I usually vote for the lesser of two evils.
