OK, so assuming UL moves on why not hire David Padgett?

went 22-14 as the Louisville interim coach and spent 3 seasons learning under Pitino...

I was just thinking that, Padgett would be great for ECU

What are you doing ECU? Where is your coach?

Rick Pitino or bust.

It might be hard to get anyone to sign on the dotted line without knowing who the AD will be.

Apparently interim-AD Dave Hart has completely reset the coaching search. From what I have read, he is not going to use the search firm, and will seek out and interview candidates himself.

One name I think he has in mind (who Hart has a UT connection to) is Tennessee Associate Head Coach, Rob Lanier.

That’s a good use of $100,000 or whatever search firms are charging these days.

Hard pass on Lanier, dude bombed out bad at Siena.

Outside the box name, Tim Cluess at Iona. Not a sexy hire and he's almost 60 but talk about winning. He's won 20+ games 12 out of his 13 years as a HC, won 6 reg season conf championships, 6 conf tourney championships, been to 5 NCAA's, 2 NIT's and 1 CIT. Surprising he hasn't already gotten a shot elsewhere, especially on a Big East or A-10 squad.

It sounds like based off of reading various reports that when Compher and the search firm were running things Dooley was the #1 choice. According to a Naples article they were even in the preliminary stages of working on a deal. Then the Compher buyout threw a wrench in everything. When Hart came in he basically got rid of the search committee and firm and is soley handling the search himself. He's also kept things really tight lipped so we have no clue if he is even looking at the same candidates or not. What I did find interesting in the Naples article is that a source has said that the decision very well may not come until after the final four which is very curious. I wonder if anyone he likes is still in the tournament. Here is the article: Naples Dooley Article

ECU can have Mark Fox if they want him, if not that’s fine too. He just did not fit @ UGa.

I like the sound of that. Might be after Porter Moser or Chris Lowry

Iffy on Moser. Started strong but after he left Little Rock he’s been yoyoing when he’s been the head coach. Dooley has been steady and knows the area already.

It could also be an assistant coach, potentially a Duke assistant? That seems to be the only one that would make sense to me.

Marty Simmons, he's the perfect fit for the Baller on a budget program!

They brought up Vally coaches, thought I'd go for a giggle before dragging out the kiddie pool and stewing till November.

It would be a great if Hart came back permanently and brought Dooley back at the same time. Probably a long shot on Hart staying since he "retired" from Tenn. but I sure hope so. He was a hell of an AD for us back in the day.

Supposedly Dave Hart is wanting to have a new head coach in place by the end of next week. Fingers crossed.

Really sincerely hope it is one of these two gents standing at the podium.
