Please call Slick Rick! He will take the job. Who cares whether we get put on probation? That would at least be entertaining. What does either party have to lose at this point?

Pitino would be perfect for ECU. At this point you're not making the ncaa's so probation isn't even a punishment. You would definitely gain a lot of interest around the campus. Do it... entertainment value alone.

Yes, yes and YES.

We need to clear out some space and get him on staff at SMU

Why on Earth would UTA fire him?

UTA's AD said they want to be the next Gonzaga. Hard to do when you don't give your coach the resources. Also some bad blood as the AD wrongly thinks Cross kept UTA from moving to the MVC to replace Wichita State

Gonzaga of the South? URI fans have already claimed the Gonzaga of the East title.

Ole Miss claims they are the Harvard of the South.

He's got an impressive resume and would be worth interviewing, but he looks like a better fit somewhere in the Southwest.

Yeah on the other hand I bet a hell of alot of coaches would be willing to help him right now. Look at Twitter and you can see their reactions.

He got run through by an overzealous and idiotic AD, after having LITERALLY THE BEST SEASON EVER IN THEIR PROGRAM'S HISTORY in 2017. I doubt any logical coach wants to touch the UT-A job now.

@JonRothstein
Pitt will hire Jeff Capel as its next head basketball coach, per a source.

I'm still thinking it's Dooley or Moton, so I doubt any of these other guys being hired are targets.

Something tells me we are going to either gamble on Moton or settle for Dools. Neither would be my first choice and I don't believe either of them can make ECU a winner in the AAC. It will take a name that can recruit at a high level. Other than Pitino that list is pretty much gone now. Im not very optimistic at that point.

I can't disagree more, I would be happy with either but prefer Dooley. I am wondering who you want instead? We're going to struggle to put together a package to get Dooley here.

RE: ECU's next Basketball Coach? - HuskyU - 03-27-2018 12:17 PM

I just want ECU to choose someone. The longer this takes, the worse it looks. The new coach has some work to do. The sooner, the better.

We can give him a raise sure, but he can hold out for other options, if not this year then next year.

Here is a new article out today that basically says just that. That, according to sources, Dooley will accept the job if offered as long as we meet his budget demands for recruiting and travel. I completely agree with you, as an AAC school there is no reason we should not be able to do this and do what it takes to win.

Another interesting nugget is apparently Seth Greenberg is a potential candidate, a name I haven't heard mentioned before.
