Sad deal.

Not far from where I live and my oldest's home is really close to the school. Parkland is one of the more affluent areas of Broward County, I've participated in a number of events that were on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas. It 's a big HS campus with several thousand students that not far from the Everglades. This is truly a tragedy and could have been even worse. I know what the loss of one of my kids would mean to me. I pray that parents of the kids that were taken away today can eventually find some peace and healing.

I went to high school not too far from there. I also have a high school aged daughter. This hits close to home for me and I pray for those affected.

I read somewhere on Twitter that there have been 28 school days in 2018 and 15 school shootings so far. Unfortunately this is the America the NRA paid for.

The kid was an NRA member? And where were those other 14 school shootings?

Completely uncalled for to bring politics into this. As far as I am concerned, the mods ought to kick you off this site for that type of garbage.

What an odd thread. In the wake of a national tragedy we have posters dropping not-so-subtle clues about their net worth and others doing cartwheels over the bodies of the fallen in hopes of furthering their inane communist agenda.

How about just offering your condolences and shutting the **** up.

I'm a registered independent that has voted for both parties in general elections. It's not a partisan position, it's the fact that the NRA still maintains we don't have a gun problem. Obviously something has to change or these will continue to happen. I was held hostage in a school shooting when I was in middle school so this is a subject near and dear to my heart. Ban me if you are that offended but that is what they want anyway, to silence us.

Yeah let's just apologise everytime this happens and move on instead of taking action to address the situation. My heart breaks for those families but condolences don't bring kids back to the dinner table or prevent future lives from being taken.

Nobody will care to remember you when you pass on. Think about that as you continue to sow melancholy discontent throughout your existence.

The NRA part should be over in politics, because this country certainly needs to be having a discussion.

The throw him off the board because he brought something up that isn't on topic is a bit extreme. Most this board would be gone based on that standard. He didn't directly insult anyone or even make negative remarks. He stated some facts and what he believes the cause is.

If you want to have a constructive conversation on the issue, the first thing you have to do is pull your head back out of the liberals a$$hole it's currently buried in.

Yeah, blame the NRA for this.... Enough people own guns in this country that don't go around having shooting sprees that this isn't a NRA issue, this is a mental health issue. And depending on more information coming out this could also be a gun purchasing regulation issue.

True.

I would ask that you all take the gun talk to a new thread in the politics board. Not picking a side just probably more appropriate to have this discussion there. Some of the issue will make it's way in here but this should mostly be condolences and shallow conversation thread about what we all agree is a tragedy, even if we disagree on what to do about it.

RE: Grieving for Florida - SMUPhil - 02-14-2018 11:05 PM

"A third-grader pulled the trigger on a cop's gun, firing a shot at the Harmony Learning Center. No one was injured."

One of the "school shootings" on the list. What could the NRA have done to prevent this, and what did they do to promote it?
Looks like the list also includes suicides in a school parking lot as "school shootings"...this is how you promote an agenda...twist the facts, distort the truth, and shout down your opponents.
