Memphis basketball is dead as we know it. - TruthBomb - 02-25-2018 09:41 PM

We are a decade away from being relevant again. Sad state of affairs.

I disagree. I am starting to find myself a bit optimistic about this team and the talent we have. I have seen significant improvement in the "team" play when Martin is out injured. We appear to have developed the ability to hit 3's at a much better clip than earlier in the season. Now, will this continue, I can't begin to guess.

The team took the foot off the gas today with a 23 point lead and it almost came back to bite them in the butt. Inexperience contributed to the difficulties they had when UConn made their run to close the gap.

With most of the team back next year (no one transfers), they could be a decent team, but not a conference killer by any means. They could be competitive and entertaining. Only time will tell.

4 wins in a row, guaranteed winning road record in conference, likely 21-22 win season when most everyone in the media picked us 8th-9th in the conference with a losing record & you post this miserable crap? Obviously, Memphis is your team only when Calapari was playing for a nat'l title.

The program I know....has always had great years and not so great years (that are considered really good years at other schools). This year could easily be a 22+ win year (a great year at other schools....a bad year for the critics). Again, I feel we have more critics than fans. As bad a season as UCONN has had, a former national champion school had fans in the stands today....while our critics ( a school that has never won an NCAA Championship) continue to ignore a team that continues to endure, grow and prosper despite the empty seats they see at every game. This proves...the team has more character than our "fans" do. In many circles...it would be said...we don't have fans....we have bandwagon jumpers. Can this effect recruiting...probably. It's a vicious cycle we have here but, we don't have enough true fans to fix it...at least a lot of "fans" worse than UCONN's. With a five year contract and a $10 million buy out...we still have critics that had not been able to figure out that the team and the coaches will actually be at Memphis for a while. They create their own fairy tales about mystical coaches that will never appear instead to putting their butts in the seats and actually making a meaningful contribution to the team and the university.

Agree. They seem to be coming around to playing as a team. If we could make the NIT, it will be a big step in the right direction.

Harry A. Gampel Pavilion is a 10,167-seat multi-purpose arena in Storrs, Connecticut, United States, on the campus of the University of Connecticut.

It looked kinda empty today. And they were bailing out at the end.
