Marshall called it his best recruiting class ever.

RE: Wichita State Basketball Recruiting - shock - 03-02-2018 04:19 PM

Add redshirt Rod Brown to the newbies, and that is a stacked class

RE: Wichita State Basketball Recruiting - ShockdaWorld - 03-03-2018 01:09 PM

Could really add Asbjorn too, just with an extra year of practice against grown men.

Except he isn’t in that freshman class. He would be a sophomore.

I think Poor Bear can come in and be solid, but maybe not great, next year. He's got good size but I think might take a year or two to get it all figured out before taking that next step. Which is kind of unfortunate since we lose all real experience from the post.

I think Stevenson can come in and be a valuable player. Granted, I only know what I've read and seen in clips but this kid is a competitor and is the definition of play angry and is definitely a Marshall type of player. CJ will have to step up his game and find consistency to stay ahead of this guy.

Udeze I think has the potential to develop into a poor man's Shaq but like Shaq, it may take a couple of years. He's a skilled player with good size though and can find some valuable minutes.

Don't know what to think of the JUCO guy. He has little experience but is said to be a solid player who keeps improving every time he steps on the court. Good size and we're going to need him to at least be a reliable presence inside.

Chance excites me. If this kid ever learns to play some D he could be special. He's got tremendous size for a SG and knows how to score and score in bunches. I could see him coming off the bench and being quite the spark.

Lomax is a great get. I've watched the kid play a couple of games and he has a great feel for the game and is strong before even getting in the weight room with Rosenboom. I like to think Shamet returns for another year and Alex becomes the primary backup. Kind of like how FVV was behind Armstead. We have Reaves to fill in there as needed as well.

Basically, I love our guards/wings and think they're setup the best because they won't have the pressure of having to come in and produce right away. The bigs have talent but are going to be thrown into the fire and God's Bear is the only returning big next season.

Hopefully our guards can take a lot of the pressure off the new bigs as they settle in and figure out what they need to do and can do.

Needless to say, I'm excited for the future. Any of the incoming FR could end up being all conference types at some point. And I've already voiced my thoughts on Brown in his thread.

This class is super talented. The nightmare scenario is if both Shamet and McDuffie both leave for the NBA the only returning player that averaged 15+ minutes will be Reaves. In that case we will asking a lot from unproven players.

I hear you. Just meant he may as well be a newbie no more than he’s played.

RE: Wichita State Basketball Recruiting - SubGod22 - 03-04-2018 09:28 AM

It is going to be interesting to see which bigs earn time. I could definitely see us starting McDuffie at the 4, which isn't ideal but may be necessary.

Miidtgaard should have the advantage, but nothing is guaranteed. He'll get competition from Chandler and Echinique. We all know that competition is what makes this program so strong.

Anybody else heard of Mike Daum maybe coming to WSU as a grad transfer? For those who don't know, this was the kid from South Dakota State that went off for 31 points 7-12 from three. Would make a nice add for next years freshman team!

Don't tease me!

Getting Daum for next year would be epic. Last I heard though was that he's a likely NBA draft pick and everyone expects him to go pro after this year.

RE: Wichita State Basketball Recruiting - SubGod22 - 03-04-2018 10:25 AM

I'd expect him to be in the draft. However, if he wants to do the grad-transfer thing, I'm sure we could find a spot for a man of his talents.

Maybe he, or others, feel he needs to be tested on a more regular basis and a year in Wichita would help him accomplish that. Would that mean Shamet going pro? Or would one of the guys at the end of the bench be leaving? I don't think Duff is leaving after this year since he missed so much time due to injury.

I'm not going to get too caught up in this rumor, but it is intriguing.

I've wondered about that all season long. I have no reason to say this, but for some reason I wouldn't be surprised if he was a graduate transfer.

We sure could use some experience in the front court next year.

Haven’t heard this, but would be pretty cool to see.

Does the boy know how to play defense? The idea of a taller McDermott coming to the Shox is good for message board lolz, but GD it if he's just a a little Wookie clone. That BJ was a sieve.

I don't have access to any kind of defensive metrics but I don't remember him as a particularly bad defender in the games i've seen him play. His team is right in the middle of the pack defensively per KP.

A quick look at the numbers says that he's the best rebounder (10.3 RPG, 16th in NCAA) on a team that is good at limiting offensive rebounds. He also blocks shots at about the same rate as Willis and Kelly. He has 11 more blocks this season than wookie jr had in his career. 03-lmfao

WSU had 7 recruits in for the UC game.

5*

That's big stuff literally and figuratively.
