A federal judge in Northern California has declined a request from California Attorney General Xavier Becerra to block the Trump administration’s decision to withhold a law enforcement grant to the state as part of its crackdown on states and jurisdictions that protect illegal immigrants.
Becerra asked for a preliminary injunction against the Trump administration's decision, but Judge William Orrick of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled against taking that step.
“The injury threatened is not irreparable,” Orrick wrote. “The amount of money at stake is small compared to the state’s budget. Payment is delayed, for the moment. The DOJ appears to be using its regular administrative process to decide whether it will follow its initial inclinations.”

Born in SF and practicing law there for the past 35 or so years, appointed by Obama... one could easily expect him to just back the /party line' but he didn't.

The DOJ is suing California over its immigration policies. I believe the state can tell it's own employees not to help ICE but it can not tell private business not to help ICE. That, IMO, is s clear violation of the 1st amendment. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Perp walk them right out of their offices and let them sit in the crowbar motel, preferably in gen-pop.

Squeeze the state agencies that depend on those "free" federal dollars, that will make the "people" sweat.
Throw those responsible in jail, that will make them sweat.

I agree. I'm surprised this hasn't occurred yet. It's coming. California will fold faster than a lawn chair once the money is taken away.

It always comes down to money - ALWAYS.
Some of these people would take jail time to make their point - you don't need money sitting in a jail cell. You get three squares and you can still work out in the gym.
Cut off their income however and now they can't buy their "herbs", pay for the electricity to power up their cars, or get their $9 Caramel Machiaottos.

IMO, I don't care about the random politician trying to make a point. If money is withheld, then citizens will bear the brunt and then turn on their elected officials. That will turn off the gravy train for the politician. Of course those same politicians will blame the govt for hurting the "common man" but that will eventually fall on deaf ears.

If the right were to suck it up and spin it their OWN way they could show that video and headline "We believe in law & order. If you break that law, you'll go to jail, no matter who you are".

Anyone else find it funny that Cali was boasting it's strong economy a year ago when they wanted to seceed from the US but now sweating over Fed dollars.
I'm sure our resident Chicken Little will be in shortly to tell us how Cali supports everyone else and that's just reimbursement.

Politicians who say they are willing to go to jail for this no what a political sideshow it would turn into. Plus it's not like they would be in county lookup with the general population. They would just be sitting in a room unable to go outside.

If it were me, I would declare martial law throughout every sanctuary city in America, pull the troops from overseas to enforce said martial law, and then send in federal agents and arrest every GD government official aiding and abetting illegals.
If the perverts and sickos in California don't like it, then too GD bad. California is a sick and demented state that needs to be given a mental bath. It makes Sodom and Gomorrah look like a piker.
