He should be but if you believe the inmates, the asylum will soon get a new leader with no D-1 college experience (make that NO college coaching experience at all) to be our savior, expecting Calipari results next season - wins and over-flow attendance. And all the while giving up on a group of guys that should add several additional wins next season if our current coach returns.

Tubby should get another year. Ollie on the other hand needs to go.

Deserve has nothing to do with it. Our athletic department depends on donations from season tickets. Some of these donations are as much as 500k per donation. These donations have dropped dramatically. It's a business decision to bring revenue and excitement back to the program. Not sure what part you guys don't understand.

The Tigers are in the midst of their first 20-win season since 2013-14 and will enter Saturday afternoon’s AAC semifinal game against No. 1 seed Cincinnati with wins in seven of their past eight games. They finished fifth in the conference after being picked ninth during the preseason.

Is there a "Penny Lite" alternative that would calm the boosters? Someone that would be willing to be the Head Coach in Waiting, some young enthusiatic recruiter?

Tubby's agent/attorney is now badmouthing Penny and the administration. I suspect the buyout negotiations are ongoing and he's working the PR. I think it's a bad move to go public like this. Gives the administration a bargaining tool to fire for cause. It wouldn't work of course, but could lead to a lower buyout.

I practiced law for decades, and his agent made a dumb statement. Agents/lawyers blabbing nonsense publicly need to stick it. It rarely helps and frequently hurts.

Not having read the contract, I can only assume that it has provisions which preclude the coach from publicly badmouthing the program. Tubby or his agent certainly have the right to complain privately to the administration about anything they want to, but I would be shocked if public criticism like this is allowed under that contract.

Again, it doesn't rise to any level that would allow termination for cause, but it certainly gives Memphis' lawyers something to raise in any buyout negotiations if they want to.

What I've said has nothing to do with wanting Tubby to go or wanting Tubby to stay. It was an incredibly dumb thing for his attorney agent to say.

If anything, it ends up hurting Tubby, so I'm not sure why you defend the agent.

What the agent said may all be true, but it doesn't change my position. His comments remind me of Trump's earlier attorneys who liked nothing better than to get on tv and yap away, to the detriment of their client.
