Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - Transic_nyc - 03-11-2018 01:23 PM

Rutgers, Maryland, Ohio State and Penn State lose their games this weekend in the men's competition. The Big Ten did better in the women's competition, with wins by Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Northwestern and Johns Hopkins.

I was watching thinking Maryland men's was cruising to a win as it was 8-3 UMD over Albany, then I saw why Albany is top ranked as they proceeded to rip off score after score to win it.

The B1G looks pretty solid once again. I'm interested to see how Michigan does this year. They ended last year 8-6 overall but were 0-5 in conference. They also fired their coach and hired Kevin Conry. As of now they're 7-2 (0-0). I don't think one year will fix everything but they could/should win a game this year. Just an uphill battle with the teams ahead of them.

Northwestern 11-10 Johns Hopkins (Friday)

If anyone's interested, College Crosse Roundup. The Terps win a TIGHT one in Happy Valley...what a good game.

I took a look at the B1G lax standings and wow...it's pretty shocking to see Ohio State at the bottom after their magical run last year to the championship last year. When I said in a post above that Michigan has a chance to win a game this year, I didn't know who it might be but it'd be nice for them if it was over Ohio State. They play next weekend (4/14). Both are currently winless in conference play.

The top of the conference is still pretty good I think. Gotta let the rest of the season play out (and B1G conference tourney) then see how many team get a chance to make a run for the Natty.

Man, Rutgers with their 1 point losses. What a buzz killer

Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - TerpsNPhoenix - 04-16-2018 01:33 PM

Maryland has been super lucky recently with the 1 point win.

Well, it wasn't a 1 point win but a 2 point loss. Congrats to Ohio State for knocking off Maryland.

RE: Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - Transic_nyc - 04-22-2018 09:33 PM

Finally Rutgers got a winnable game down the stretch but still work to do getting into the conference playoffs next week.

RE: Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - Transic_nyc - 04-28-2018 08:35 PM

Unsurprisingly (03-no) Rutgers lose the final regular season game to Ohio State. However, because Penn State lost to Michigan, Rutgers finally gets to play in the Big Ten tournament. Depending on what happens elsewhere, they have a shot to be in the NCAAs as well.

Michigan 10-9 Penn State
Maryland 8-7 Johns Hopkins
Ohio State 10-7 Rutgers

Maryland (11-2) 4-1
Johns Hopkins (9-4) 3-2
Ohio State (8-6) 3-2
Rutgers (9-5) 2-3
Penn State (8-6) 2-3
Michigan (8-6) 1-4

women

Johns Hopkins 16-11 Rutgers
Michigan 12-11 Penn State
Maryland 20-16 Northwestern

Maryland (16-1) 6-0
Northwestern (13-4) 5-1
Johns Hopkins (10-7) 3-3
Penn State (9-8) 3-3
Michigan (7-10) 2-4
Rutgers (6-11) 1-5
Ohio State (5-10) 1-5

Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - TerpsNPhoenix - 05-03-2018 09:10 PM

In the Big Ten conference tournament: Maryland beat Rutgers 12-9 and Hopkins beats Ohio State 6-5.

Maryland plays Hopkins for the championship Saturday (5/5) at 7pm.

Thanks! It should be a good one.

RE: Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - TerpsNPhoenix - 05-05-2018 07:02 AM

So today for the men's championship we have Maryland vs Hopkins (7 pm on BTN).

Yesterday we had the women's semi-finals. Maryland beat Hopkins 16-11 and Penn State upset Northwestern 21-16. So tomorrow (5/6 @ 12 pm on BTN) we'll have Maryland facing off against Penn State for the championship.

RE: Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - Transic_nyc - 05-06-2018 04:45 AM

Hopkins' run in the 3rd quarter decided the entire game.

It will be interesting to see how many from the Big Ten get to the NCAA after some people saying how tough the conference is this season.

RE: Big Ten Lacrosse 2018 - TerpsNPhoenix - 05-06-2018 06:29 AM

03-phew Welp...that's the way it goes sometimes. Congrats to Hopkins. Now it's time to wait and see where Maryland is seeded and how many teams the B1G gets in.

Maryland and Hopkins are locks. According to College Crosse (done 5/5 in the AM) they have Rutgers in the field as a "last 4 in" and both Ohio State and Penn State as the "last 4 out". So 3 B1G teams in. Guess we'll have to wait and see what happens with the bracket reveal tonight.
