Did ODU take their ball & go home? - MU ATO - 03-11-2018 09:19 PM

Didn’t see them in a post season tourney???? Why?

Really no reason to play in the 2 lower tourneys. Players and fans wouldnt care and would lose money

You have to have fans that would care about it

ODU fans had higher expectations for this season. We wouldn’t draw 2000 people for a CBI game this year. We under achieved and are disappointed. There’s no excitement for a C tourney this year, and little ROI for the cost with a veteran team. Just put an end to this season and work to get to the NCAAs next year.

Many of our fans would’ve wanted to turn down the NIT. No way were we playing in the other two. WKU and Middle broke the spirits of our fans this year, made worse by seeing a team we were clearly better than winning the tournament and getting the bid.

Agree with ODU here. Just say no to a C-Tourney.

While I would have loved to see our boys play more games versus 3rd tier also-rans, I think our denial of these tourneys is smart. Sends a message to Jones and our team that such participation trophies are not to be celebrated. We expect more, and demand more, and this squad better damned-well be on the same page.

When sweeping Marshall is the best we can do, it’s not a great season..

Well, we did beat a team that was clearly better than you to get that bid, so there's that. We were 3-2 against the teams that broke your spirits. What was your record against them? Never mind, looked it up, 0-4. Cool.

You won’t get any disagreement from us. But, we can say we are 2-0 against teams that are in the field this year.

You asked a question and we gave you an answer. Again, no reason to be such penises about it. Cucks gotta cuck, I guess.

Actually I asked the question. Better luck next year.

And maybe you can beat us on the court then, as well. Bravado without results is is just BS. We earned our lack of post-season play and own it, And wish the best to the Herd in the tourney. However, that is not mutually exclusive to the fact that ODU fans are not happy with the current state of affairs.

Who knew that 4th place was the place to be. If we were seeded 4th instead of 2nd we may not have had to go through either of the only 2 teams to defeat us in conference play to get that NCAA bid. ODU defeated USM at their place and destroyed UTSA by 38 a few weeks ago, shortly before they lost their star player to a season ending injury.

Congrats to Marshall. Thirty years (or however long it was) is too long for a school to have to go without making the NCAA Tournament. I traveled to the last two that ODU played in (New Orleans against Notre Dame & Baylor, and Washington DC against Butler). Hope some of your fans can make the trek to San Diego for the Tournament. I've traveled and stayed out there for a few weeks each time on a great many occasions over the years for work. All things considered, it is my favorite big city in California.

RE: Did ODU take their ball & go home? - MUther - 03-12-2018 03:07 PM

I think all the top 4 were pretty even and it came down to strengths and weaknesses in the match ups. I mean as 4th place we only got blown out by WKU in the first game with them. We were competitive on the road, just didn't finish some games or ran out of time sneaking back in. We definitely got hot at the right time.

A C-Tourney would be fine with a rebuilding team of freshmen and sophomores that would benefit. All 5 of our starters were upperclassmen and 2 were seniors. It would be insulting to the players and the fans to make them play in it.

Yep. In 2013, our young team benefited from the CIT.

Not this year.
