Marshall has a baseball team? I kid, but that is awesome. After the season we have went through in basketball, it is hard to think about baseball at MU.

There’s a reason we have a losing record.

Tuesday's lack of offense had me worried for the weekend.

FINAL

Tech 8
Rice 2

RE: conference baseball opening weekend matchups - thefaU - 03-16-2018 08:35 PM

Florida Atlantic beats Old Dominion 10-5.

Game #2 tomorrow at 3 p.m.

RE: conference baseball opening weekend matchups - techdawg88 - 03-16-2018 08:40 PM

Tech will be playing a DH vs Rice tomorrow

RE: conference baseball opening weekend matchups - KAjunRaider - 03-16-2018 09:01 PM

MT beat Western 3-2 in Bowling Green

had 2 outs in bottom of the ninth, with 2 strikes on the #8 hitter

proceeded to hit 3 consecutive batters

left the pitcher in and he got the #2 hitter to popup to win the game

if I was the western coach I would have my batters just stand there

Doubleheader starts at 1 PM CT instead of the originally scheduled 2 PM.

Hard to believe that Tech keeps improving on its two major nationally ranked team pitching stats...team ERA and WHIP. Tech was ranked #3 in team ERA at 1.86 starting tonight, and it is now 1.82 after allowing only 1 ER. Tech was 5th in WHIP (walks and hits allowed per inning pitched) at 1.03, and that is now 1.02 after allowing five hits and two walks tonight.

I was talking with Coach Mac and he said we'll be starting a new scheduling cycle next year; so we'll be playing Louisiana Tech and skipping Marshall.

RE: conference baseball opening weekend matchups - usm99 - 03-17-2018 02:43 PM

USM up 9-0 going to bottom 6. USM pitcher Nick Sandlin has double digit Ks (11 today) for the 3rd time in 5 starts. He’s got a remarkable 52/3 strikeout to walk ratio on the year.

USM gets 3 in bottom 6 to go up 12-0. The pitching line for Sandlin is 6 IP, 2 hits, 11 K, 1 BB

Edit
Sandlin gives up a 2 out double but he does get 3 more strikeouts in the top 7 to tie his career high of 14 Ks. Being at 108 pitches I’d say he won’t be back out for the 8th.

Final line score
7 IP, 3 H, 14 K, 1 BB, 0 runs. Season ERA now 1.32 with a 3-0 record (unless utsa makes a stunning comeback). Of note he only allowed 2 batters/runners to reach 2nd base.

That’s good. Ridiculous that 2 of our top programs don’t play each other.

UTSA gets a 2R HR in the 9th to make the final score USM 12 - UTSA 2. Game 2 of the series at 6 pm tonight.
