per WKU Herald

This is a false statement in the article...

While the dollar amount of the dinner is not included, Robinson never participated in NCAA competition for WKU, which means the school should not be at risk of any NCAA violations. Had Robinson stayed in school, the situation would have vastly different implications for both he and WKU.

While I'm not suggesting nor would I have anyway to know whether there was any wrongdoing at western I can say this. Just because he didn't play doesn't mean significant NCAA violations weren't committed - potentially at wkcc.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised that he was given money to go somewhere else and when he signed with wkcc that pissed a bunch of people off with skin in the game creating a whole set of other problems which is probably why he ended up leaving. How else can you explain the cluster that was his recruitment. I don't buy this indecision crap. He had people in his ear with money in their pockets telling him where to go - and probably money in his too.

The article is old news (from Feb this year). Robinson had a family member going to dinner with an agent. Not sure how any of that could be against WKU, where he never played. These agents aren't paying these players to go to a certain college. They are paying them in hopes that they will sign with them if they make it in the Pros. Schmoozing family members and tossing a few thousands dollars at every half-talented prospect casts a wide net when even 1/100 can make you millions.

I believe you are right. These are just people trying to cash in as "agents."

But a number of coaches have connections to these individuals doing this. That's where the big rub comes in.

And that's how the NCAA is going to sweep this all under. These were rogue individuals not the schools that were doing it. Sigh.
