I had to wear my student ID in highschool back in 1999. No biggie there. The clear backpacks are dumb, but so are taking off your shoes and belt at the airport. When you ask for government intervention and security measures, you usually get a lot of stupid, reactionary stuff.

That is about 95% effective. And would have been 100% in this case, assuming whoever watches the entrances was armed.

You just lived through a mass shooting and two of you classmates brought knives to school, the half brother of the shooter got on campus and a Coward County Deputy was asleep in their patrol car out front.

The inmates are pissed because they are no longer running the asylum.

The guiding principle of gun control (and apparently, school security) is that it is always easier to enforce the law on law-abiding people, because enforcing the law on criminals or repealing the 2nd Amendment is hard.
