Very impressive effort by the Big East champions. 02-13-banana

Congrats to Villanova. An impressive performance in the championship game.

They're harder to beat in the second half than they are in the first...and they showed that again tonight.

Geez, any chance Michigan had to get a momentum push, Villanova squashed it with a 3. Utterly brutal. Probably one of the more punishing teams I can remember seeing.

This team isn't a clean one, either. They tended to draw their fair share of fouls...got themselves into trouble in theory tonight...didn't matter.

First time ever that both the Men's (Villanova) and Women's (Notre Dame) NCAA Champions are Catholic schools.

how about this first. First time the Super Bowl Champions and NCAA men's champion are from the same city. That's just unreal.

A lot of college hoops powers aren't from big cities (e.g., Lawrence KS, Lexington KY, Chapel Hill, NC, etc.) so it's not really that strange. I guess the strangest aspect is that no Los Angeles NFL team ever won the Super Bowl when UCLA was winning all those hoops titles.

I wonder if it would be true if we said "same state"? Like Syracuse winning in hoops while the Giants won the Super Bowl?

I can top that:

How about Villanova is the very first Big East team in history to win two NCAA Championships in a three-year stretch.

I mean, if you think it's weird that the Giants didn't win the Super Bowl in one very specific season in their entire history.....

Villanova, PA is 17 miles from Philadelphia

But not the first time teams from the same city won the NFL and NCAA men's hoops titles in the same year. 1963 NFL champs were the Chicago Bears; 1963 NCAA tournament champs were Loyola-Chicago.

To be fair, while Villanova is a straight shot from Philly via Lancaster Ave., it's not in Philadelphia. Close enough, though, for those of us around here!

Actually, while Philly loves a winner, there's definitely some animosity toward that Main Line school in the region. The last couple of weeks, while Villanova was doing its thing, you still had local radio hosts not totally putting the Wildcats over, because they were Temple or St. Joe's fans. "Good job" but no gushing. Gotta love Philly and Big Five basketball.

So darn proud no matter who it is...PA's got two champs!

Same state? 1995 (49ers and UCLA)

I just checked my "ESPN Tournament Challenge" and it says i scored 1180 points, which was 98%.

Does that mean I beat 98% or got beat BY 98%? LOL.

Um, the Giants won all of their Super Bowls while playing in New Jersey. Maybe you mean Buffalo going 0-4 in the SB.

Is Villanova a blueblood? Or in the next tier?

RE: Villanova dominates Michigan, wins National Championship - stever20 - 04-03-2018 08:13 AM

do think the stat they showed last night about the technical fouls being first in title game since 1993 when Chris Webber got his infamous one. (yeah, that was 25 years ago).

Amazing how time has flown. I still think of the Fab 5 as pretty recent basketball history. 07-coffee3
