Quote:A national search for Maryland’s next Athletic Director will begin in the coming weeks. Executive Athletic Director Damon Evans has led Maryland’s Athletic Department during the past six months. He has agreed to continue in this role until the appointment of the new Athletic Director.

I'm kind of nervous about this search. We've known that KA was leaving since his "6th month sabbatical" was announced. Evans had a 6 month interview but it seems he hasn't gotten the job. Lots of fans are calling Gary Williams, Tom McMillan or Kevin Plank. I saw a tweet yesterday but I can't find it now from someone that was interesting. It talked about a few potential candidates but also said something to the effect of that some people don't believe that Wallace Loh (UMD President) will be extended past this current contract. UGH.

Edit for tweets and man the 1st two tweets don't put the Terps in a good light.

1-No one I've talked to seems to think Wallace Loh will be around past his contract either.

2-Financial issues within the athletic department are perhaps even more significant than have been described.

3-Lots of them talked about finding an AD who cares about #Maryland. There are those types out there with AD experience (Castiglione, Hathaway). But names like Tom McMillen and Len Elmore also came up in my conversations.

4-Ive also heard that #Maryland would have liked Gary to be the full time AD. But if he didn't want the interim job it's hard to imagine he'd want the full time gig.

Two articles about the Terps AD search and candidates. Both are a little on the long side but good.

TLDR: Damon Evans (acting AD), John Currie, Jeff Hathaway and Jeff Long. A very long shot of Joe Castiglione.

So it appears the Maryland AD search is down to 3 finalists.

I swear... if Currie becomes AD, I'm going to lose my mind.

I don't remember Currie being bad, just that he made an unpopular (but not bad) choice for head football coach and the fan base revolted in hilarious fashion.

It sounds like Maryland is getting close to a decision.

The Temple AD looked like the best choice.

Probably right. I don't think Evans is a bad choice but as acting AD, he had a good long interview and if it's gone this long he probably not the one. I am not a Currie fan.

Well, let's look at me being wrong. Maryland announced Evans as the new AD removing the interim title.
