New NCAA Football rules - tribe_pride - 04-16-2018 09:56 PM

Looks like the NCAA approved a number of new rules for this year.

Biggest rule changes seems to be any fair catch inside the 25 yard line will result in a touchback and be moved out to the 25.

As clarification this only applies to a fair catch on a kickoff...seems unlikely in most situations. See below:

"The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved altering football’s kickoff rules to allow the receiving team to fair catch the kick inside the 25-yard line and have it result in a touchback."

Honestly feel like this rule does little to correct the problem it aims to. Most of the high speed hits have happened long before the play is blown dead due to the fair catch signal AND clean catch.

Can you have a fair catch on a bouncing ball kick?
