Isn't he the current President of the ARA?

Quoting the Rice news story that I linked (above) in my OP:

Quote:A former president of the Association of Rice Alumni Board of Directors, Bowers ...

This article said: "Donald Bowers ’91 is serving as the president of the ARA through June 30, 2015."

According to the ARA Board website, Matt Haynie ('03) is the current President of the ARA Board, Shannon T. Vale ('77) is Past President, ARA Board; and Michol Ecklund ('97) is President-elect, ARA Board.

Why do you have to besmirch the guy like that? I think it speaks volumes to his character that he overcame such an obstacle

+1

More importantly, I hope this represents an increase emphasis on athletics from the Board, with resultant increased investment.

Congrats to Donald. He is a great guy who loves Rice.

Also a guy who shares same values that folks here have (win, better conference, more focus from University on Athletics, investment, goal to become P5, etc.). Too early to see how loud he can/will make that voice but great sign to have it on the BoT and great sign from University to go in direction of appointing someone like #58.

That is exactly what I was hoping to hear!

Anybody recall Donald’s home town and his high school? Mike?

In its listing of Rice football "recruits," the Feb. 13, 1986, Galveston Daily News (page 28) lists Don Bowers as coming from Houston's King High School.

Thanks. I’d somehow thought that he mughtve come from Wharton.
