Not me too-but the boy crisis - bullet - 06-14-2018 04:44 PM

"///Boys are in crisis everywhere. They are falling behind academically in 60 of the most developed nations. Boys are 50 per cent less likely than girls to meet basic proficiency standards in reading, math and science. Rates of ADHD among them are escalating. Since the Great Depression, the gap between male and female suicides has tripled in the U.S.

What is good or bad for boys does not seem to attract the interest of our cultural elites

The common denominator behind many of these trends is fatherlessness. When all other variants of race, socio-economic status, health and other obvious metrics are accounted for, fatherlessness is the single biggest predictor for many negative outcomes among boys. Male prison inmates are 85 per cent fatherless. Juvenile detention centres are likewise full of dad-deprived boys. Male violence and fatherlessness are strongly linked, even in violence-promoting political movements. Fiyaz Mughal, a radicalization specialist with the Faith Matters Network, says, “All of these (young ISIL recruits), they have an absent father … the kids fought police, fought at school, rebelled against every power structure at every opportunity.”

These are some of the interesting, well-annotated facts that arise from a reading of The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys are Struggling and What We Can Do About It, Warren Farrell’s latest book, written in collaboration with John Gray, author of Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus...."

The whole article is worth reading, but that ^^^ is the true bottom line.

This crisis will continue to gather force and steam over the next several years/decades. For now, the academic/media-types don’t have to really deal with the consequences of this in their day-to-day lives. And (much as I hate to admit it), social issues don’t get high-priority attention until people like that are willing to play along. But the time is coming when this problem will get up in everybody's face and demand some action.

All by design folks.

And I should know, my own mother was and still is part of that anti-men movement.

She was so committed to the cause that she ditched me when I was young. Every time I saw her after that she would do nothing but tell me how terrible I was for being a male.

They want to destroy the white male through any means.

As I said, all by design.

This is a perfect example of liberal/progressive policies = FAIL.

The left can't seem to embrace the concept of "a rising tide lifts all boats".

Their philosophy is that in order to enable or prop up one group, another must be destroyed.

Boy-girl
Rich-poor

Doesn't matter to them, in order to boost or bolster group B, group A must be destroyed, punished, or made to suffer.

Suicides are up. Crime is up after decades of decline. Its starting to have an impact.

Jealousy is an important part of being a liberal.

By far the lack of a father is the biggest problem but we have a generation of men now who have been raised who buy into all the bs so even when they are around their kids, the kid has two mommies, still not a father. Before helping boys, their fathers have to be fixed. Gotta get rid of these piss poor attitudes of being supportive of trophies for everyone, transgederfreakism, and being proud of every fault your kid has. Kick a boy in the ass and make him stop being a girl.

Bring back shop classes and the scouts... then enroll the fathers.

Can we also address a system that punished boys for behaving like boys and treats them like defective girls?

Oh, you mean the new system that believes boys aren't REALLY boys, they're actually girls who haven't come to terms with their true "gender" yet.

One of the most destructive trends in our culture. I think we already have a significant portion of a generation of damaged boys that are emasculated. I think it has been recognized and is beginning to correct.

I honestly think the problem is deeper than this. When I was in school in the early 80s, we were also expected to behave. I don't think the expectation that boys behave treats them like girls. My theory is it has more to do with a sedentary lifestyle. It is much more difficult to spend 6 hours sitting still when the remainder of your 18 hours a day are also spent sitting still. My son has never had the problem of not getting off his arse, yet we still got calls about his behavior at the beginning of kindergarten. Once we got rid of the babysitter 2 months into the year and put him in the before school care program where they wore him out each and every morning, we haven't gotten a single call about his behavior since and he just finished 3rd grade.

Agreed. It's not about 'emasculating' so much as it is expecting younger boys to be able to be still like girls the same age. While there are a few exceptions, boys need movement in order to maintain focus, otherwise it all devolves into either misbehaving or tuning out/focusing on talking to a friend, etc.

Among my friends many couples are only remaining together because of the importance of a strong nuclear family, particularly a father. Sad but true. Regardless, this still has been the Summer of Divorce and I have a bad feeling I will be hearing from my buddy this evening that he's getting divorced.

Rural boys are still tough

They are tougher (by and by) than their counterparts in the cities/suburbs.

But I think the rural boys of today are still much weaker than the rural boys of a generation ago. Drugs, fatherless families, feminized education — it has taken a toll everywhere.

I think sometimes about that Bocephus song. He recorded it in 1981. Those lyrics were true back then. Are they still true now? I’m not convinced.

Probably, but you still don't want to run into a north Minneapolis thug after dark either.....
