Liberty 4-3

And we can go bowling this year if the Cure Bowl isn't filled.

RE: Bowl Eligibilite Teams - ken d - 10-22-2018 11:54 AM

Ole Miss also has five wins.

If I remember correctly from App's 7-5 transition year, Liberty gets a bowl ahead of any 5-7 teams. 6 win teams stayed home App's year, but I think we a looking at being 1 or 2 6 win teams short this year.

The SBC will probably have 6 bowl eligible teams for our 5 slots, (I'm not sure about the AAC), so the Cure Bowl might be out though.

AND more importantly there aren't enough bowl eligible teams. The deal with the Cure Bowl doesn't override you being 1st year in FBS.

Correct but they are under a Bowl ban this season, that is why I did not include them.

RE: Bowl Eligibilite Teams - stever20 - 10-22-2018 11:57 AM

1 correction, right now Hawaii is NOT bowl eligible. They have 6 wins, but the rule is you have to have at least 6 wins, and be at or above .500. They have 13 games, so if they lose out they are 6-7 and not bowl eligible.....

I believe they got in at 6-7 before

A 6-7 team can end up in a bowl game, but only if there is an insufficient number of qualified teams to fill all the bowl games. So they aren't bowl-eligible in a 'regular' sense but in a provisional sense.

This applies to teams like Hawaii and their opponents that played 13 regular season games. It doesn't apply to teams that are 6-7 because they lost a CCG. Such teams are considered to be 6-6 for bowl eligibility standards, meaning they are regularly qualified.

A second correction which S20 pointed out to me a couple of years, the rule is 5 FBS and 1 FCS wins is the minimum. Six wins that are 4 FBS and 2 FCS requires a waiver from the NCAA. 04-cheers

Yeah. but looking
Army has 5 wins right now, but they aren't going to be hurt by playing 2 FCS teams. As they have not played either yet.

RE: Bowl Eligibilite Teams - arkstfan - 10-22-2018 07:37 PM

Cure might end up short. Sun Belt is almost assured of four (the league will short Tucson before Orlando). AAC probably won't have 8 (assuming Access slot) or and 7 will be close (no Access Bowl).

Then it's just a matter of whether or not there are enough eligible teams to dip into the transition and 5-7 teams.

RE: Bowl Eligibilite Teams - msm96wolf - 10-22-2018 07:41 PM

Teams with 7 losses
Rutgers, UTEP, Rice, CMU, Bowling Green, Kent St, San Jose

Teams with Six Losses
UNC - Technically dead if they don't get a 12th game.

Near Dead
Nebraska, ODU, WKU, UMASS, NMSU, Wyoming, Oregon St, Arkansas, Tx State

Yes. But Liberty folks would want to make you think that it's just if the Sun Belt and AAC don't have enough- they're in no matter what. And that's just not the case at all whatsoever....

RE: Bowl Eligibilite Teams - stever20 - 10-22-2018 07:47 PM

looks like just looking quickly there are right now 7 matchups where 5 win teams play each other. So that would take the right now 26 teams and make it 33.

Actually, was thinking Liberty. They likely lose to UVA and Auburn. Should beat Norfolk St their second FCS team which does not help. If they beat UMASS and NMSU, they will be the last to qualify over 5-7 teams. 6-6 with two FCS wins, not sure the NCAA grants them a waiver for transition year and two FCS wins.

I think Hawai’i get another victory at least so they will be eligible. However,
I think they’ll get in with 6 due to their tie to the Hawaii Bowl.

They have to be eligible to get into the Hawaii or any other bowl. If they finish 6-7, and there are 78 bowl eligible teams- Hawaii will not go bowling. Period end of story........
