I do not bet, but if I did I would wager on Tulsa today.

Tulsa really needs to get this win. Last chance for a resume builder in non-conference play.

RE: 12/16 (Sunday) AAC Basketball Games - CougarRed - 12-16-2018 08:26 AM

Two important games today. Go Tulsa! Go Coogs!

Only five more significant games left for the league, and four of them will be concluded by next Saturday:

Dec 19
UCLA at Cincy

Dec 20
Utah St at Houston

Dec 22
UConn vs. Villanova
Wichita St at VCU

Jan 19
Penn at Temple

Out of curiosity, does anyone know what our overall conference record is and how does it compare to the other major conferences. I keep seeing NBE folks saying that the American is the 9th ranked conference and maybe that was true earlier in the season but I'm wondering has anyone else seen any new updated data showing the conference rising up over the last few weeks. Heck as pisspoor as the pac12 has looked and with the NBE starting to fallback to earth, we should be in the midst of the top7. This is also going to be a great indicator as to the number of NCAA bids we may get. Thanks in advance. 04-bow04-cheers04-cheers04-bow

No offense because maybe I'm missing something, but why is Utah st vs Houston a significant game?

They are #31 in NET right now...?

We have the 6th best non-conference win % (ahead of the PAC, behind the rest of the Cartel and the Big East).

RE: 12/16 (Sunday) AAC Basketball Games - CougarRed - 12-16-2018 08:55 AM

Utah St is

#31 in the NET rankings
#52 Pomeroy
#42 Massey Composite

They are more highly ranked than Saint Louis or VCU or Penn or Dayton. About the same as UCLA.

Here are the T-Rank efficiency conference ranks (as I no longer subscribe to Pomeroy).

Much like the RPI, it's a three-way battle for 6th between the Pac 12, American and WCC, with a big drop off from the Top 5 to 6th and again from the Top 8 to 9th.

Thanks guys. I think in the end these are the kind of stats that are going to determine how many teams we send to the big dance. I noticed that we have a much better win-loss percentage than the pac12 yet they're still above us in rank. I wonder if some of this is due to our lousy preseason power rankings and that the numbers are still adjusting for this season alone.

RE: 12/16 (Sunday) AAC Basketball Games - Nevadanatural - 12-16-2018 01:52 PM

Actually Dayton is the 3.5 point favorite in that game.

RE: 12/16 (Sunday) AAC Basketball Games - pesik - 12-16-2018 03:18 PM

Pretty reverse dunk by Brison Gresham. As the announcers said, it was more out of necessity than for style points, but pretty nice nonetheless.

Coogs up early, 14-7, 13:00 left in the 1st half.
