I have a feeling that either something like this ^ will happen soon or it will never happen.

I believe that Castro is buddies with Hussein...and that guy in Venezuela (can't remember his name off the top of my head) is buddies with BOTH of them...so Hussein does have allies in the Western hemisphere.

I don't know about any alliances one way or the other, but they both share a great dislike for the US. That can always make for some strange and unlikely bedfellows....

Are you kidding?

Almost all of the weapons used in the middle east crisis are from... take a WILD GUESS! We give somewhere between 4-5 billion dollars a year to Israel.

If we went to war with the whole middle east (Israel, Palistine, Saudi, Yemen, Oman, Iraq, Iran) we would win.

Australia isn't as much of a military value, but more of a political value. For instance, we can use them to help gain Britain's support.

"Join us and Australia" sounds better than "Join us".

Plus, I'm sure they can help with some things.

Im not saying we couldnt win...just that t wouldnt be as hard

Techfan,

If it really came down to it, and the US said to Russia, it's either us or them, do you really think that Russia would forfeit all of our financial aid just to help a losing battle?

Isreal has the will and the firepower to singlehandedly take on the rest mentioned and at least fight to a draw. Not to mention, they are our allies, and I'm sure you know that.

Jenibu and others:

It is definitely an UNPOPULAR idea to go to war with Iraq, but it remains to be seen if it is a BAD idea. Time will tell if we decide against it now.

And to a previous post, one of the reasons the Middle East hates us is because we are allies with Israel.

RT1,

Yes, I know that they are our allies, and I lumped them in there by mistake. I just basically thought of all the middle eastern countries I could and put them.

Also, like I've said before, Israel gets over 90% of the their weapons from us, but that's moot because we would never attack them.

Well, you can generally link it back to 1948 when Israel was created.

We helped drive out the palistineans, who are made up of various religions, muslim being one of the cheif ones.

All the crap that came out of that (radical muslim groups etc...) is another reason why most of the middle east hates us.

Note: I know, this is a VERY basic idea, and a lot of **** has gone on in between those lines.

What we (not just the US) need to do is to start over on a new planet....but eventually that would become just as corrupt as this one. Maybe it would be easier being a bug or something. Or maybe something cooler like a mongoose...they don't have nuclear weapons and biological warfare.

Please! Let's keep this thread on topic.

It's been a long, long time since this board has had real, flame-free, meaningful discussion.

That was on-topic, IMO. Basically, I was saying the world sucks in a less-blunt sort of way.

However, to get this thread back on topic, here is my solution to the beef we are facing for-

1)Since we do give Israel so much, if we wanted to take direct action, we could threaten to cut off their moolah, etc. unless they agree to a Peace Treaty/and or land agreement with the Palestinians (this only works if Israel agrees,
obviously).

2) We stay out of Iraq until they do something. We can try negogiating, but if that doesn't work, we should just leave him (Saddam) be for the time being.

3) Stay out of all future conflicts with other countries. (as much as possible, of course, we wouldn't be able to avoid all conflict).

Now, Talk Smacketh

I know, I know, I just didn't want that mongoose talk to send anyone out on a tangent

1)Since we do give Israel so much, if we wanted to take direct action, we could threaten to cut off their moolah, etc. unless they agree to a Peace Treaty/and or land agreement with the Palestinians (this only works if Israel agrees,

This is pure speculation, but I think those sort of threats have been made directly or indirectly... It's probably a lose cause though, both Shiron and Arafat are too f***ing stubborn to agree to anything

2) We stay out of Iraq until they do something. We can try negogiating, but if that doesn't work, we should just leave him (Saddam) be for the time being.

Until they do something?!?!? Like wipe out half of Israel and other countries??? I'm sorry, but we can't sit around and jerk off while we let Saddam pick and choose which country survives and which one dies

3) Stay out of all future conflicts with other countries. (as much as possible, of course, we wouldn't be able to avoid all conflict).

That's a little too idealistic, IMO. We have to "police" the world in some cases.

lol...alright

Exactly- That's why when we find Osama we hire him to kill them (note: I know this would not help the situation)

Until they do something?!?!? Like wipe out half of Israel and other countries??? I'm sorry, but we can't sit around and jerk off while we let Saddam pick and choose which country survives and which one dies

Well, if they wiped out half of Israel that would help settle the land dispute...lopsidedly

That's a little too idealistic, IMO. We have to "police" the world in some cases.

I know what you mean here, I just think its something we should at least try to do in some way...maybe just lowering our involvment would help. George Washington even said something to the effect of "Stay out of other countries' business"

Note: (this isn't directed to you Nate) I tend to humorize my arguments (and agreements) sometimes, so if it bothers anyone, tough luck. Alright, not really, just let me know.
