To suggest beating the 11th rank team on the road is one of the biggest victories in school history is a kind of a joke.

Nobody is saying that....we are talking Cronin era.

And even then, this game isn't top 3. Its probably Top 10 in Cronin era though.

People have short memories. I recall a UC victory at Villanova against a Top 10 Jay Wright team and lots of great battles with Marquette over the years, including during the Dwayne Wade years. One year Oklahoma State came into the Shoe with a Top Ten team and UC took the Cowboys out to the woodshed with about a 28-point margin of victory. Any UC wins over Louisville, and there have been a number of them when both UC and UofL were in the Big East, including the recent one at UofL where Sean Kilpatrick made like 15 consecutive free throws against a constantly fouling Cardinal team to clinch the victory. As previously noted, last year's home victory over Xavier was memorable, in part because of the quality of play, but also UC overcoming a 28 point first half and a 40-point overall game by Trevon Bluiett.

I think we are talking Cronin era.

This game would be a blip on the all time UC list.

And you, as well as most of Bearkat Nation, would have been a blip for the rest of the season had we scored one more point. All things considered, this was Y U G E on the Boocat blip scale.

Biggest regular season win since 2002 given the stakes. Memphis and Marquette in 2002 last were both enormous for clinching conference and getting a 1 seed. I put this win in that group. My Bearcat memories only go back to the early 90s so I can't comment on before that.

For the Cronin era I still put the Big East tournament win over #1 Syracuse and the win over FSU in round 2 as the top 2 wins. Hopefully those get topped in the NCAA tournament this year.

The difference is Wichita State fans are passionate but have class! To beat a hot WSU team (won 7 in a row I believe) on the road who are great on the offensive end and underrated on the rebounding side with one of the top coaches in the NCAA speaks for itself IMO. We have struggled against this kind of team in the past, so yeah, it was yuge. Looking forward to playing this quality opponent on an annual basis.

The stakes of playing for an outright conference title, and locking up a top 3 protected seed made this one bigger.

For the Shockers it would have been around 14th or 15th since 2006.

I forgot the hammering we gave Syracuse when they were top 15 back in 2006. There were no stakes other than a nice bump up the polls.

Cincy game might move into the top 16 now.

Our biggest games have always been in the Tourney. I can't name 16 though either way.

VS KU 2015 to reach the Sweet 16
Gonzaga 2013
OSU 2013 to reach Final 4
UNI game in 2015 when it was #10 vs #11 only because College Gameday came to town and there was a snowstorm and we still packed the place. It was also for a conference Championship

I'd actually throw in the Missouri State game in 2014 when we came back from 18 down in the 2nd half to maintain our undefeated season.

Though I could be swayed that this game was better than any of those regular season games.

The Athletic had a nice article saying that the rivalry could become something big for TV and recruiting.

Definitely off to a great start from the standpoint of building a rivalry. Hopefully we can get together for another rock fight on Sunday.

Behind every win over X. This win was magnified bc the conference is so poor and this was the ONLY conference game all year vs a top 15 team. If the American was better this wouldn't have been such a must have. It has nothing to do with Wichita State. Although, I do hope they become a rival.

Regular season only? Well that's convenient considering we've been stuck in the MVC while ya'll were pampered in the Big East with endless opportunities at "big wins". Most of our real work has obviously come in the NCAA Tournament and there are 12 NCAA wins since 2006. We've had some very big games against Syracuse, LSU, VCU, Creighton, UNI. My favorite game at Koch Arena is still an NIT game against FSU.

I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS VIDEO IS ON YOUTUBE!

This is the loudest I have ever heard Koch Arena, sustained or otherwise. My favorite game of all time. A bonus for that game was a date I took with me. Let's just say the party kept going for a long time after the final buzzer. Ohhh that dime was kinky...
